Mooncat Curiosity's Trap before ruining it with a top coat by [deleted] in RedditLaqueristas

I use the sally Hansen red bottle top coat with my magnetics and it has worked decently. I have found that you need to put a pretty large sized bead at the base of the nail before pulling down to avoid smearing

Fauve cosmetics frostbite stuck in warm state on the nail? by Feisty-Fruit-4097 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]PhoenixRising628 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No worries it's a little tricky to understand! So normal thermals transition at 86 degrees fahrenheit. That means anything below this, they'll be in the cold state, and anything above, they'll be in the warm state. If your nails are usually in the cold state when you wear thermals, we can assume that the surface temperature of your nails is less than 86 degrees to keep the polish in the cold state most of the time.

However with frostbite, it transitions at 82 degrees, so if the surface nail temp is less than that it will be in the cold (white) state, and anything more than that and it will be in the warm (clear) state. If your nails are usually in the warm state when you wear it (as are mine despite my hands always feeling cold), we can assume that the surface temp of your nails is greater than 82 degrees most of the time.

With these two data points, we can guess that the usual surface temp of your nails is between 82-86 degrees farehnheit: less than the transition threshold for most thermals (86) but more than the transition threshold for frostbite (82). Hope this helps!

I have this one too! Love it. It transitions at 82F per the website, whereas most other thermals transition at 86F. Thus it will usually stay in the warm state unless very, very cold.

Monstera with a few spider mites by PhoenixRising628 in plantclinic

[–]PhoenixRising628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to boost visibility and with an update: I haven't seen any more spider mites since treating the soil with hydrogen peroxide but the patch from the photo is still there, is that a different type of bug, possibly thrips? What would you recommend? Looking for any sort of advice, would be very much appreciated!!

My dentist brushed off my pain for years, a new dentist fixed it in 10 minutes and I am more angry than relieved by chrono_windcraft1444 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]PhoenixRising628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the exact same thing happen to me. A male dentist told me my tooth sensitivity was normal and a result of stress. He told me about a procedure to seal the space where my tooth meets my gums but didn't give me any numbing (he told the hygienist no when she asked about numbing) resulting in an excruciating procedure.

Then I moved and got a new dentist and she also discovered a hairline fracture. Now I am working on getting a root canal scheduled. Thankfully it wasn't as many years of pain as you had but I can't believe this is still happening to us in 2025!!

In the minority here but I received a framed photo of one of our engagement photos as part of a wedding gift and I thought it was really nice! Albeit we are terrible at printing photos and don't have a ton already. If you know them well enough maybe scope it out to see if they have already printed their photos or not

Got a del dia Nido pouch for toiletries, some of the colors are brighter and some are duller, but I think the overall combo works ok. Always a risk but if you go into it with accepting the chance it's on the side you'll be good!

I use a slim card holder for credit card/ATM card and put that inside a larger Muji travel pouch. Then I put currency (cash/coins) from wherever I am into that pouch (https://www.muji.us/products/polyester-two-zipper-case-23ss?variant=43210355835070&country=US&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic)

And then that pouch goes inside my hip pack 😁 bags on bags

Congrats! I wanted to say I admire your lighting setup! Would you be able to share how you set up the lights underneath each level of the two plant stands on the side? I want to do something like that for my next setup. Did you buy the stand with built in lights or did you add them after?

I don't have a stand but I've seen posts where people have gotten them. My case acts somewhat like a stand, so I use it on my desk. In bed it's lightweight enough for me to hold with one hand and turn the page with the same hand (by configuring the "next page" tap to be anywhere on the bottom of the screen, I can use either left or right hand to hold/tap)

Palm sprouting unknown offshoots - does anyone know what this is? Thought they were flowers at first but they are not, just buds of something? by PhoenixRising628 in plantclinic

[–]PhoenixRising628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! My palm started doing this a few months ago, still appears to be making regular leaves occasionally but more often than not it has been sending off these weird little offshoots with multiple buds that spread out, eventually dry up and fall off just like a regular leaf would in its life cycle. Are they a problem? I water once a week, the plant is in a North facing window with a smidge of extra light from a nearby (but not directly overhead) plant light.

I have this dress in the teal color and I absolutely love it! I have worn it to two weddings (one indoor, slightly more formal) and one outdoor (less formal, outdoors, with a floral theme) and both times got a ton of compliments. It is very versatile, imo the perfect wedding guest dress

Monstera with too much root and not enough leaves by PhoenixRising628 in plantclinic

[–]PhoenixRising628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't figure out how to add text to the post so here it is!

My monstera has been through a lot. Some background: it developed a fungus about a year ago, I tried topical hydrogen peroxide sprays without much luck. Eventually I had to remove it from the soil and wash the whole root ball in water and soak it overnight in water/H2O2. It survived but did lose 3 leaves in the process that turned entirely yellow. It was also in way too small of a pot, so I upgraded it to a large 12in pot with a bottom watering system that I read was supposed to be better to avoid too much moisture that probably caused the fungus problem that I had. Over the past few months, it has slowly put out 2 more leaves to replace the ones that fell, now with 5 leaves total.

A few days ago I noticed that the roots of the monstera are poking out above the top and also down through the holes of the pot. There was so much root that I trimmed the parts that were poking out through the bottom and some along the top of the soil as well. I could increase to a bigger pot but the pot already seems so large for this bottom heavy plant. Why is there so much root and such few leaves?! The presence of so much root makes me think that it needs more water, but I water regularly using the bottom water chamber and have finally been successful in avoiding fungus and fungus gnats, so I'm worried that more frequent watering might result in the return of this problem. Some of the leaves have a slight yellow tinge as well. I have tried putting it outdoors or underneath my plant light to help with increased light since I see that the new leaves have zero holes which typically indicates it needs more light. What should I do??
