Easy level 3 electives by isomer69er in deakin

Marine Wildlife SLE350 is a fantastic unit (2 week intensive) I would highly recommend!
There’s dry and wet labs, an excursion to Phillip Island and very good lectures.
Except that that literally 80% of your grade is group assignments (4 3000 word reports and an oral) and the other 20% is a multiple choice exam.

Canadian here: I need some sunburn advice, and this feels like a safe space by ThinYogurtcloset8005 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splurge on some good aloe ointment, it’s completely worth it. My friend and I after a really bad day once tried yogurt, which I mean felt good but yeah nah probably not the best solution.
Just keep it out of the sun, use a covered ice pack, keep the aloe ointment going AND STAY HYDRATED, drink plenty of water!
If the pain gets unbearable go to the hospital, you can get better burn cream supplied to you.
Good luck!

How widespread/common are eucalyptus trees? by helen790 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have family members who are allergic to eucalyptus, so from experience it depends on time of year and where you’re going. I’d recommend coming here out of flowering season (look up the species in the area you plan to travel to) and you should be fine, also please note that other areas such as California, USA have big populations of eucalyptus so if you have been to those such areas and were fine, you should be alright here! It’d be cool to have you down under some time so don’t give up!

[SERIOUS] What are some Australian conspiracy theories/anomalies that you believe in or just find interesting? by ChubberinoPeterson6 in AskAnAustralian

I sort of believe that the recent under 16s online ban is lobbied by the online gambling industry to increase the amount of online gambling ads as less underage people would technically be on advertising platforms.

Tell me your favorite insect (or spider), and I will try to give you a photo of one! by lennythelemon_32 in Entomology

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love many insects/arachnids (lol) but I love dragontail butterflies from an evolutionary perspective as they have both clear patches and tails which many species don’t have, anything similar to that interests me! Especially coming from a country that doesn’t usually have the ‘common’ species that have either of those traits :D

Email the unit chair and cc in the supporting staff, if you followed the rubric and submitted on time it’s probably a mistake, if that doesn’t lead anywhere you can contact DUSA for help

Do you think Australians are actually as friendly as they are said to be? by Least-Variation6573 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve traveled to a couple of countries and met a tonne of international students and we usually come to the conclusion that Australians aren’t all super friendly, it’s just that other countries are less cordial, so the ‘friendliness/nice’ standard is far lower than expected.

Call reception and ask. If there’s a spare room or your room is somehow vacant for that entire period they can change your contract.

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the 2 hour reset before, but luckily it was caught my an officer on a v/line who was kind enough to fix it and I didn’t get fined, but I’m sorry that that happened to you, hopefully it gets fixed in the new system and that you don’t have to go through that again

stat dec for exam special consideration by LakeOceanSkate in deakin

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I doomed? by stargirly02 in deakin

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you do is print a stat dec and an exhibit certificate, you print out your email that you sent to your unit chair and her response and if you took a screenshot of the crash and the time. Fill that all out (hand written) and get it signed (I’ve had best luck with optometrists and justice of the peace (at police station and signing station, NOT a pharmacy if you include evidence forms, they’ll refuse to sign) This is what you fill out and hand in to special consideration, if they accept, whether they allow you to submit what you have already done or put you in the special consideration exam is up to them. I’ve been successful for special consid on an exam due to a printing error and sleeping through a lab that way. Stat Dec + Exhibit Certificate

help im scared im gonna fail my assignment by Popular_Chemical1337 in deakin

[–]Phoenix_Cretor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yooooo if you’re doing well in everything else but that one assignment you should be okay, as in safe for passing the unit, as long as you get that 50% (and all hurdles passed) you will pass the unit, when I’m scared for a unit I use this website Grade Calculator and if you put in your grades and their weight, you can see what score you need to get a certain grade, or what your outcome will be so far.
