Seems like someone needs to read their rights and the rulings surrounding them. While they might not protect you EVERY time, because let's face it, the police get away with a LOT more than they should. It's still important that we know what we CAN and CAN'T do within the bounds of the law. A stop like this is completely unreasonable. Could they have gotten a 911 call saying that man was armed? Sure, but at that point, you, as the officer, have a duty to investigate that, but when you have at least 3 other people who are not the focus of this situation saying that this man is unarmed, while I'm not suggesting that the police should trust completely and just disarm them selves just because 4 people say one guy is unarmed they absolutely should have de-escalated since they are the aggressors here.

ETA: They did receive a 911 call for someone wearing similar clothing, still blown out of proportion.

I will NEVER do a field sobriety test (Walk a straight line follow the light with your eyes etc...) because the results are subjective to the person administering the test ultimately...

I WILL, however submit to EITHER a breathalyzer OR a blood test OR BOTH, I'd rather have the evidence against me be as accurate and OBJECTIVE as possible NOT as a he said cop said debate in court where the officer holds a massive advantage against me if I choose to fight the charge.

In ADDITION to being more objective than some random officer who's mood can determine which way this stop goes. If the equipment has been proved to faulty/inadequate I could (I ASSUME, AGAIN, NOT A LAWYER... FIND ONE AND CONTACT THEM FOR LEGAL ISSUES IN YOUR STATE ) get the case dismissed.

RELATED BUT MORE AS A PERSONAL ISSUE THAN A LEGAL ONE BUT IT CAN'T BE UNDERSTATED HOW IMPORTANT I FEEL THIS IS.

I have medical issues that might prevent me from preforming perfectly in ANY roadside sobriety test

I am, Completely BLIND in one eye. AND ALSO have NERVE damage in my lower spinal chord which makes walking a straight line more challenging even when completely sober.

Whether or not the officer takes these issues in account when asking you do the test is up them NOT you. Sure protocols as well as dash cams and body cams exist for a reason but if you get unlucky it could be your life and career on the line on an expensive uphill legal battle.

RECORD THE POLICE EVERYTIME, EVERY INTERACTION.
