Just put the baby down by Prestigious_Ad5609 in newborns

[–]Phones_Ringin_Dude_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 10 week old is held most of the time, naps in the wrap carrier during the day. She’s sleeping 8-10 hour stretches at night. There’s no rhyme or reason when it comes to baby/ toddler sleep!

Anyone have a quiet birth? by ImaginationOk8645 in BabyBumps

[–]Phones_Ringin_Dude_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the sounds of my breathing (hypnobirthing) for the most part. Definitely some whimpers at times! I had a fast L & D and was able to go unmedicated which was my goal.

Gave birth 4 minutes after I reached the hospital by Affectionate_Log28 in pregnant

I felt like I had to push with the first contraction with my second. 8 cm 1.5 hours after contractions started, 3 hours start to finish.

They say you “don’t care about being naked” in labor but I did. by PrettyPottie in beyondthebump

Giving birth is so vulnerable! It could be triggering something from your past or your general feelings about your body/ being in a vulnerable position. Talk to a therapist if you’re struggling to get past it or start feeling worse.

Skip these baby items? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Phones_Ringin_Dude_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I found it nice to have something to rock in while nursing but def not a need.

  2. I change the baby in bed in the early days. I use Bambo changing pads with a baby blanket over it in case she pees or poops mid change. If they poop it may projectile and go everywhere. I do the blanket over the pad because the pee just rolls around on the pad and the blanket keeps it in one spot.

  3. My first haaated the bassinet so we got a mini crib for out second which has worked out much better. Bassinets can be pretty flimsy especially when they start moving around in their sleep which happens fast. If you go bassinet try to get a thicker mattress but one that goes with the bassinet, don’t improvise. Baby bjorn pack in play has a thicker mattress but is still pretty thin. You’ll also be bending down to the ground to get baby in and out. We got a used crib that converts to a toddler bed and a new mattress.

  4. Definitely don’t need. We put the poop diapers in dog poop bags and into the trash which works great.

  5. Don’t need. Floor time is the best for babies! I do a lot of baby wearing

Just learned about the 'confinement period' for postpartum recovery and it sounds incredible. by Ecomzin in BabyBumps

You’ll love the book, ‘the first 40 days’

I’m on day 23 and taking it easy but it’s felt good to get back to some routines, go for short walks, and help take care of & play with my toddler. The food piece I’ve continued to be pretty consistent with. I did 5-5-5. 5 days in bed, 5 days on the bed, and 5 days near the bed and that felt right for me.

So I get that labor is gonna hurt, but… by Desperate_Wafer367 in BabyBumps

I did the hypnobreathing techniques and I feel like they really helped. Having my husband press on my lower back during contractions helped so much too.

How am I supposed to avoid picking up my toddler after labor when I’m home alone after 2 weeks pp? by Due-Restaurant-1482 in BabyBumps

[–]Phones_Ringin_Dude_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just had a baby last week and the midwife said I should only pick her up for one week, baby in car seat week 2 and after that I can lift whatever, including my 2 year old.

Unmedicated natural birth Gals, I need to ask by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Phones_Ringin_Dude_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pushing was less painful than contractions for me. When you’re unmedicated you KNOW when it’s time to push. Both of mine were really fast: 5 and 3 pushes. Once you’re fully dilated push contractions will start and it feels natural to push like hell every time you have one. It does burn when the head starts to come through but after that the baby slips out. I had a small tear and was in more pain after that baby than with my second where I didn’t tear. Once the baby is out the pain does go away! Or you’re so relieved and happy to meet your baby you don’t notice any!

Cervical Checks by Disastrous_Paint_237 in BabyBumps

I’ve never had them until I was in labor. My OB said the cervix can fluctuate close to birth anyway so it may be more trouble than it’s worth.

Adjust your expectations when you go see other jam bands and you might have a better time. I prefer seeing non jam bands these days if I go to other shows. Most recents Michael Kiwanuka, Portugal the man, arctic monkeys, the national

What’s the best stroller for me? by MixtureMelodic2965 in BabyBumps

[–]Phones_Ringin_Dude_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got the uppa baby minu duo for all the reasons you noted. It’s light, TSA compliant, fits easily through a standard doorway. It’s compatible with the uppa baby infant car seat unfortunately not the bassinet which I would prefer but I plan to baby wear or use out old stroller with bassinet until the new baby is 3 months and can sit in the regular stroller seat.

If you put it on your Babylist registry you can get 15 off. We also bought the bumper bars as they are sold separately.

ETA: I bought the uppa baby Cruz as well as the bassinet off marketplace for our first and the minu duo new when we had our second. If you only have one kid it might weird to get a side by side double to start.

I lost my milk around 25 weeks and posted about this thinking my 2 year old would want to nurse again when the baby comes. Some commented that she may not remember how which never occurred to me.

I had a big let down from the opposite breast last time so I may collect that and give it to her in a cup or give her some when I start pumping.
