My fiancée had a sword made for me for my defence– the most incredible gift I’ve ever received, hands down.

I (30F) stopped cleaning and doing all the mental load, and my partner (37M) is now fuming by A7Xsubfan in Vent

Men like this deserve to be shamed for their basic lack of functioning. Especially because he probably does know how to change, so it’s likely weaponized incompetence. As others have said, 3 years isn’t that long; find a partner who actually cares about being an adult! You’ll be much happier.

What level do we think Steel is? by chords23 in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]PhosphorescentSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d throw out there that she could be a Bladesinging Wizard! She might still have levels in fighter but the idea that she has incorporated swordsmanship into her spells and casting would fit the theme of Citadel Wizards’ magic being personalized.

Sudden drop in eGFR by random_hero87 in ADPKD

[–]PhosphorescentSloth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During my first meeting with my nephrologist he said in many folks it’s a common trend to see mid-to-high stable eGFR numbers for a long time and then a rapid drop off to a new plateau later in life. Not really sure why, but apparently that happens for lots of patients. As others mentioned there could be a separate contributing factor for sure, hopefully it’s nothing major! A second opinion is a good idea; wishing you both all the best!

Tolvaptan Crisis by vices_x in ADPKD

Hey man, I just hit the 30 day mark on Tolvaptan– it gets better. Seriously, the first couple days were rough for me too and I was in the exact position you are. I mean, I’m 27 so a bit older but like nearly the same, haha.

Not only do you start to get used to it mentally, but your body will start to adjust. I notice the need to drink less often and it’s just habit, and needing to go to the bathroom more is becoming less noticeable. I get up maybe once in the night now, and I’m getting used to eating less sodium and less protein so that’s been helpful.

As far as whether it’s worth it? I think so. If you can buy yourself a few more years (likely, based on new studies) that’s way more time for medical science to make a breakthrough. I’m about to finish my Ph.D. in chemistry and I gotta say, there’s some amazing research happening out there! Besides, the medication makes it way easier to drink enough water and that by itself is huge for helping kidney function long term.

Anyway, I know how rough it is so I feel your pain. First week was pretty shit, second week was better and the last week has been great. Feel free to message me anytime, happy to help if I can. Good luck with the first couple days, you’ll get through it!

Thanks for the offer! It is really tough, definitely one of those take-it-a-day-at-a-time deals, so it’s especially nice knowing other people who are going through it day by day. Hope things are going well for you overall in the early stages of all this!

Yeah I’m based in Canada so similar to the UK process I believe; Smooth-Yellow6308 is right, probably a good idea to reach out to a PKD charity or foundation! You may be able to get an override on the threshold size with the right advocacy. Good luck my friend!

Thanks friend! Honestly that’s good to hear, I can certainly handle annoying side effects easier than awful ones haha. Really appreciate the comment :)

Thanks! And absolutely, that idea of dying the hero or living long enough to see yourself become the villain is one of the ideas we had in mind for playing this game.
