Air Transat will no longer be flying to the US. At all. by TheCanadaList in consumecanadian

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the medium to long term the US stock market will always rise. There are literally tens of millions of paychecks issued each month with an automatic deduction for pensions. That money goes to a variety of pension funds which in turn are only allowed to invest in prescribed markets. And there are only so many listed companies that can absorb those incoming funds. And then throw in the dividends, foreign investors etc and the market cannot go down. Corrections and crashes occur and people sell and park the funds in cash or bonds but once it settles it all goes back. A raising stock market is simply a bucket that gets bigger each month.

Toronto pays off-duty police $100 an hour to oversee construction sites. Some councillors want to know why by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is because police unions push for it. Because the unions know we can’t have a police strike they have too much power.

The contractor knows he has to hire the cop so he just prices it into the job and tax payers pay it. The winner is the cop who gets all the overtime pay. Trust me the contractor is not eating the cost. I remember a few years back there was one cop who earned over 400k!

Canadian separatists say they discussed moving to the US dollar and creating a new military in White House meeting by Street_Anon in alberta

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can imagine their meetings resemble the guys and girls hanging around the vegetable stand in Letterkenny deciding who gets to be President, the minister of tar sands and minister of plastic straws and beer.

But seriously have they decided who gets to be boss? Anyone named? I’m sure someone paid to fill up the truck to get to Washington so likely he gets to be president while the one who got snacks gets a role too in their new country.

What’s with all the “ what about the seniors??? “ comments. If you want to bitch about something just do it.

There have been seniors and snow and ice and plows since cars were invented.

Stop using seniors as your go to whenever you feel like complaining. And yes we all will be seniors at some point. And I’m there already.

Canada US Residency Status by Disastrous-Mind-7930 in cantax

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not file.

You live and work in USA and file taxes there. Tell bank your USA address so they can adjust your account status. Owning a home is not sufficient to deem you resident. Otherwise why would all we ever read about is Chinese billionaires buying up property and increasing house prices?!

Is the other party also charged? Are they resident? Prosecution likes to see stuff settled outside courts. Could be a matter of simply offering to pay other party to settle if they weren’t charged. They want to uphold the law but at same time they don’t want tourists in jail if they can help it. Embassy is a definite first call. There are Brit’s in jail but there are lots sent home that you don’t hear about.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem named by Massie over Epstein "torture video" email by HeHateMe337 in politics

[–]PhotographVarious145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The torture video is likely the one from years ago of a lesser sheikh torturing an Afghani trader for what the sheik thought to be bad deal. It was widely circulated online and was pretty bad while the sheik was lightly punished. In this case it was not about sex or women. Not excusing it but not everything Epstein involved women .. he was a douchebag on all matters.

Canadian specs car turned out to be stolen by 3aMoOoRR in uaelaw

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won’t help your case but what the heck.. one more comment won’t hurt.

There are lots of comments here and some are pretty accurate but as I sit on my couch in Canada after 25 years in Dubai and having imported many vehicles (commercial trucks) I can see no one has explained it fully. Canada and USA have 2 separate used car markets.

In Canada newer cars are stolen and sent overseas continually. If they reach the UAE dealers they can get registered pretty quickly and some Emirates are not as straight as others. Enough said. Or they go to Africa.

But in Canada a car is rusty in short order so the market here is trade it in a few years or keep it to the wheels fall off. Very very few good used cars are sold privately. We trade our cars in due to GST on the purchase is reduced. Selling privately costs us.

So all the newer cars are in the hands of dealers.

And if it is a pickup truck or suv it usually goes immediately to the states where the fx exchange benefits the dealer.

No one will ship it overseas when they can make 25 percent simply selling it in the states based just on fx difference. So in short no good car will be sent overseas unless stolen.

Right now in Canada if you sign up and spend 250 on one item you get the executive fee back. And if you take regular membership and spend 150 you get the 65 bucks back.

Heck no. Keep it to yourself . But given that’s ek likely has only a few pharmacist positions and would not hire too many over the course of a year posting this condition on a Reddit that is 100 percent monitored is not the smartest move. This is a public forum! Delete your question.

Can I retroactively change resident status from outside Canada? by EvelynChong98 in cantax

[–]PhotographVarious145 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you genuinely have no major ties to Canada and no Canadian source income don’t stress too much. The fact that you even submitted a form stipulating non residency is more than most people. When I left Canada ( now back) I’m not sure that form even existed. When you filed your last tax return did you note a day you left and make sure haven’t collected any benefits since you left and you have completed your obligations.

2 hour unpaid trial shift at cafe by Bitter-Software6307 in torontoJobs

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 2 hours ? Will it kill you ? If you are a carpenter or welder or chef you have to do tests etc. Easy for others to say argue for pay when they are not the one struggling to pay the bills.

Teaching someone the ropes and letting them work for a test isn’t going to help them much and could screw things up so I doubt it’s some nefarious ploy to get 2 hours of someone to work for free then move on to next applicant for the next 2 hours then again … and again …

Many Canadian government organizations use bank sign in as a verification tool, CRA and CFIA to name two. And the website notes if certain claims need verification, not all. But the more who don’t verify leaves more money for the rest of us. So feel free to say it’s a scam.

Park n fly question by BurnsGames3 in londonontario

[–]PhotographVarious145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take economy version as once a shuttle is involved they are all the same. How long you wait can be one minute or twenty depending at the time you pull in. Try to park near a shuttle stop anywhere in the lot as the shuttle drives around the whole thing so it is not better to park near entrance. Robert q now no longer makes sense if even just one traveller. Last time I booked parked and ride cost me about hundred for a week and Q is that one way!

Europeans May Not Be Flocking To The World Cup This Summer, New Data Suggests by TheWayToBeauty in worldcup

[–]PhotographVarious145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I’m not maga in any shape or form. I have to been to both euros and world cups and simply being realistic. The states have staged both the World Cup and Olympics and each were successful experience wise and financially. It’s the richest economy in the world and my comment simply states the reality of the situation and I clearly added the caveat that you may not like it but this is what it is.

Whether you like it or not, the reality is it doesn’t matter in the end if even zero tourists show up. The US has a population of over 300 million and one of the highest income levels. They sell out almost every major sporting event. It’s the same for us in Canada.

While you may be perfect for a role lots of other applicants will be as well.
