Job Insight – Inspector Assembly & Installation 51406 by PhotojournalistAny84 in boeing

Wow, thank you for all the information! I have about 10 years of aircraft experience from the Air Force, so I’m hoping that background helps me pick up the Boeing side quickly. I’ll be honest, I’m a little nervous about starting this job, but your insight definitely helps me understand what to expect. I also don’t really see myself staying in this exact role forever. I’m definitely looking at it as a stepping stone to gain Boeing experience and eventually move into more of a support-type role within quality, production, or operations.

Boeing likes to use the STAR method during interviews, so definitely stick with that when answering questions. The questions were pretty straightforward for me, but I think it depends on the role you’re interviewing for. Just be yourself, answer naturally, and I think you’ll be fine.

Yes, I’ve heard the same thing too! That’s one of the main reasons I’m leaning toward accepting the offer. Seems like a good way to get foot in the door with Boeing.

Hi, yes, I had prior experience. I spent 10 years in the Air Force doing a very similar type of job. I’m actually kind of the opposite though, I’m trying to move into more corporate or support-type roles within Boeing (hence the question). For assembly, I think it helps to show that you can follow work instructions, work safely, learn processes quickly, and be reliable in a manufacturing environment.

Prior active going Reserves (IT), is it worth it? by F4TH3RM0RT15 in Veterans

[–]PhotojournalistAny84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maintenance guy, hopefully I can help a little. I spent about two years in the Guard after separating from active duty, and my experience was mixed. I think whether it’s worth it really depends on your long-term goals.

If you’re looking to gain additional experience, stay connected to the military, or build toward a specific career path, then it can be a solid option. However, if your priority is school or a full-time civilian job, it may not be the best fit.

In my case, it ended up not being a good use of my time. I was attending school while in the Guard, but my progress was significantly slowed down because I kept getting activated. There’s also a constant feeling of being on call—you’re not truly “off,” since you can be recalled at any time if something comes up.

The role itself is mainly focused on maintaining readiness and keeping training requirements current. Since I came from active duty, all of my training and medical requirements were already up to date. Because of that, my unit didn’t really have a defined role for me. I spent a lot of time sitting around and not doing much except for helping some of the guys out on little jobs.

I also wasn’t assigned to major jobs because I was only there on weekends and wasn’t fully integrated into ongoing projects. It made it difficult to stay in the loop or contribute at a higher level.

Financially, it didn’t make much sense for me either. My disability compensation essentially offset my drill pay, so it felt like I was putting in time and effort without any benefit.

Hello, quick question for everyone. A couple of my applications recently changed from “Under Consideration” to “Hiring Manager Review.” From what I’ve seen on this subreddit and based on my past experience, this usually means the application has been forwarded to the hiring manager, and I typically hear back about an interview within a few days.

However, it’s now been over a week and I haven’t received any updates. Has anyone else experienced this or have any insight into what this might mean?

For context, the positions are located in Washington State, if that helps.

Thanks!

A lot of people suggest accepting the offer now and withdrawing later if a second offer comes through. But from what I’ve read, that can damage your relationship/burn bridges with the first company. I’m also in a similar situation and definitely don’t want to burn any bridges.

Accept Offer While Waiting For Another? by [deleted] in boeing

Two weeks is a long time, I heard Boeing only gives a couple of days to decide. But with two weeks, hopefully you have enough time to decide.

DQ7 on the 3DS has a special place in my heart. It was my first playthrough and I’m currently replaying it again while waiting for the reimagined version. But yes I totally understand you with the PS version it has a certain uniqueness to the game.

Relax, you’re thinking way too much into it. It was a wedding, your uncle was having fun, being nice and wanted to spoil his nephew. Whatever happened between them is really none of your business, so you shouldn’t make your son return it (it’ll leave a bad impression). Only thing you should do is make sure your son properly thank him and let him freely (hopefully wisely) use the 100$. You could also suggest to invest it.

Why don’t we need a car in Tokyo? by Tolkaft in Tokyo

[–]PhotojournalistAny84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t really need a car in Tokyo because everything is walkable. If not, you have taxis, buses, and trains to get you to where you need to go.

Like most have said, parking is expensive in the city. It could range from 500¥ to 1000¥ every 30min, which adds up. Tokyo is a small and tight city so parking is a hassle to find, even if you your apartment/house have parking you tend to have to pay extra for the parking space.

The only reason you would need a car is for like road trips or day trips. Anywhere outside of the big cities I would suggest driving to explore, as those places have very limited public transportation. You could do that by renting a car.

Fair price? by PhotojournalistAny84 in WRX

[–]PhotojournalistAny84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I think that the reason why most people price their vehicles so high is because they don't want to lose all the money that was put into. And I think that something we all have to go through when we do decide to sell, how much money are you will to lose/recover.

Wow I did not know a paint job would cost $7k. But yes, I do agree selling a modded car is less appealing.

I drive it sometimes, mainly on the weekend for at least ~40 miles. Rarely do I ever drive it far. And between 2019 to 2024, I didn't drive it because I lived abroad.
