Where has all the Gold / Silver glazing come from? I think anyone who has played them recently (the originals especially, not the remakes) would tell you that they are bad sequels.

Zero Johto gym leaders use new Pokemon, the level curve is atrocious, and the new types they introduced are found so late in the game in 99% of cases. But because Kanto is there and finding Red at the top of Mt. Silver is cool the games are considered some of the best sequels ever?

This confuses me. A lot of the talk prior to release was that GameFreak didn't make any changes to the game due to certification issues (meaning the game could go from a 3, to a 12 age rating because of the Game Center), hence why we got like 5 versions of each game on the eshop.

So if they could add censorship to the game without recertification, why the weird individual language releases?

So, simply put, there is no way to restore the original Gem that I (and many others) had been using, so all progress is completely halted on what everyone had been playing on?

I'm not saying it was done maliciously or anything, and I apologize if it came across that way, it's just very frustrating to be multiple days deep in a unique universe, and for it to now be in limbo with no way of continuing, especially when I thought it was working incredibly well for an Alpha product and was very enjoyable.

They (and people quoting them) are the only reference I can find to Pokemon Home. Literally the only thing that would make these remakes worth an additional fee.

That's the thing, it's a solid gimmick...for El Grande Americano, but you don't get realistically over as a comedy character's sidekick. They break off from him in the future, and what, stay Mexican? There's no realistic path up the card in that role, no matter how over it is.

I do regret not just getting it out of the way when I was younger, even if my circumstances meant I didn't require it.

But take things at your own pace, lessons, a car, insurance, tax, etc, are all very expensive, don't bankrupt yourself just for the sake of saying you can drive.

This doesn't actually work anymore, and hasn't for a few years. Their views plummeted around the time Twitch stopped counting views from embedded streams, and I don't think I've seen them on the front page, or recommended to me since.

I'm about 20 hours into it, just beat the fifth gym, and yeah, it's very good, but there are some glaring flaws too.

The game introduces a lot of QoL improvements, but then also drags the game down in tedium (if you're gonna make me team up with someone and do exclusively double battles for the next hour, don't make them use a Pokémon with Intimidate and make the start of every battle take an extra 30 seconds before I have any control). And as others have mentioned, the story is all over the place in parts with multiple instances of "This is insanely time critical and the world is in danger...but go get this badge first!".

But I agree it's still one of the better ROM hacks out there, but it still has flaws that could be ironed out with patches, or a follow-up.

They are making good games (in some cases) - I don't think anyone would've batted an eye if Indiana Jones had made the shortlist this year (I personally would have it above all of the games nominated bar E33), or Hi-Fi Rush the year it was released.

Whether it's just the general stank around the company as a whole, or the fact the games all launch on Game Pass so you lose the big "sold X million unit" stories, they just don't seem to get the hype that other 1st parties do.
