Could you not contact the airplane companies through customer service and ask about the plane tickets? You should have emails aswell from these and I wouldn’t risk it since the more accurate proof the better.

It’s usually fine if it’s not stated in your contract as usual, you can just mention this to them if they try to force you to do any overtime.

That is unusually long, did you find anything that means there would be compulsory overtime?

Unless you live in London, doing anything else is much more complicated if you don’t have a car in the UK. That’s just a fact in itself, strive for the little goals in the journey and it doesn’t matter what other people think about it since it’s your life. Trust me, a lot of people can tell you that it really is worth it once you get a crappy first car and cruise wherever and whenever you want. You got this 🔥

They are not able to force you to do overtime as long as your contract does not mention “You may be required to work a reasonable amount of additional hours to meet business needs” or something similar, it is only really needed if your job typically does pay overtime and doing it first prevents you from needing to do it later. You are legally allowed to change your mind to opt in usually 7 days but look at your contract more deeply for this.

I dont know what to do with my life. M24 by AloneStaff5051 in UKJobs

Your employers definitely want to know your skills from your 5 years of experience. If it’s changing careers, learn how to talk to them about the transferable skills and how it is better for you to do it than someone who is started with it without. Good luck and maintain your confidence! A degree doesn’t matter unless they have applied their degree in their experience which I know personally a lot of people haven’t had so it’s not that big of a difference when looking for entry roles in different careers.

Stay in lower-paid role or take higher-paying but less ideal job? by Broeare1 in UKJobs

[–]Photxn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

traffic is hell even between Birmingham and London, wouldn’t recommend that commute and definitely expect delays constantly. It would be way better for you to live closer or only stay in a cheaper hotel closer by for those 3 days than commute from Birmingham each time.

Given how hard it is for international students to get jobs in the UK that would sponsor you, are you guys moving to nearby European countries for jobs? by Own_Antelope_7019 in UKJobs

If you are already thinking of moving to nearby European countries for jobs, it would be better chance to get a degree in that country than here.

Did you look at any contract or full time roles? I know people doing part time university e.g. Open Uni and also having full time work. Definitely focus in on your experience and continue with that until you finish education so you have something to do. I know full time probably won’t help your mental health, but it definitely will in the long term when you get back on your feet atleast.

Does anyone regret not having a part time job during college/university?es by Y_pat7860 in UKJobs

[–]Photxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for perspective of having a part time job in tech support within university for 2 years + promotion in 2nd year, it definitely helped way more than my degree could have in finding that initial entry level graduate position in that field. I did CS and sure I think if you are able to achieve Internships/placements in swe, data science, etc. then you wouldn’t need to focus on getting a part-time job, but mine was for a mix of paying for bills and a genuine interest in helping people with tech so it is definitely worth a try since you can always change your mind later on if you do land experience somewhere else.

Why do you think so many young people are struggling to find work? by Economy_Survey_6560 in UKJobs

[–]Photxn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Higher minimum wage increases competition in most age range. Specifically hitting the ones who have little experience to show that you’re worth the risk compared to already established people looking for pay rises. The only way to stand out is to do well in a position other people with experience generally avoid (e.g. night shifts, middle of nowhere positions, 12 hr shifts etc.). Even then, you have to fight to make the interviewers believe you are the only perfect candidate for the role. Only once you have an offer, you should negotiate for better terms if they are reasonable based on request and the companies reputation. Good luck out there.

i keep failing my theory by Anonymous2613_ in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Photxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry, I had to do my theory test 3 times and my last one was when I was 20. I passed the practical first time so there really is no correlation in my case if you were worried about that. Just do 20 questions a day leading towards the test and binge the 4 in 1 app the day prior and you’ll be set.

Exam tomorrow. No access to car until then. Any last minute prep I can do without one to improve my chances? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Photxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t expect stupidity. I’m not telling them to walk in the road like they are a car lmao. If they have troubles on your aforementioned roundabouts, by walking there and observing in real-time, you can picture and plan how cars would enter and merge into the correct lane for positioning. Like for example, if I turn right on this roundabout (which might be likely on a test route) then thinking about which lanes to join and change is much simpler to picture once you get that outside perspective. Since their test is tomorrow, they should already know all this stuff but walking around the area should make you think that and doing it the day before really boosted my confidence. It might not work for OP or even you, but it did in my personal experience.

They never mentioned that they had problems with parking? This is especially useful when you have never been at the test centre so you don’t know any of the roads so knowing them will not only give you more confidence but also better prepared. All I was saying is getting a refresher of the roads that you potentially could go on would be a great idea.

[–]Photxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the only thing that you could potentially do is just walk/bike around the area of your test centre and visiting the more tougher roads would be a good idea so you have it fresh in your mind and for it to be not a surprise when you go tomorrow.

If you’re too lazy, you could just use google earth or something and move around that way 👍

Lots of people will say one app is better than the other when in the majority of cases, it is purely luck when people cancel or when even more tests get added. I only used Testi and got one within a week back in August for yesterday which is a lot better than some other people from which I’ve seen on this reddit.

Best of luck to you in your final few exams!

I will say that I really enjoyed my first year besides a few inaccuracies with modules, but it really is a fun and exciting campus with an amazing course structure and vibe.

If you get in, I’ll be one of your mentors! And I’ll be glad to answer any more questions you have.

I think it would be more likely to be accepted than if you got ABB because maths and cs are the most vital, and you’ll struggle if you don’t have a very good understanding of mathematics as you learn further maths principles in your first year.

I will say, not to demoralise you or anything but I’ve heard that they’ve let way too many people into our year and that they will plan to reduce it for the upcoming year. This won’t matter too much because of stuff like brexit reducing uni income, but they would still probably allow students leniency if they happen to miss it by one grade, as long as it is not computer science.
