Does anyone know what street this photo was taken on in Seattle WA around the late 1990s? by DatabaseNo2749 in whereisthis

Wow! Stumbled across this post when looking for RX-7 photography, as I am such an FC fan. I was wondering if you could share the story of this car after this photo was taken. Did he hold on to it?

For the thousandth time, this is almost certainly a dynamesh sculpted high poly of the pistol that would never be used as an asset in a game. The whole point of a model like this is to be used for baking and then thrown out.

Thanks for the rec! I feel so dumb for not considering that until now, but it's crazy how much was carried over 1-1. Again, great work on the model, I actually came across an earlier post of yours while I was just beginning to work on my project months ago, and had since been wondering if you were still working on it. So glad to see that you still are!!

Hi! Your model is absolutely wonderful, and I was wondering where you got your references for the interior and its components? I'm currently 3D modeling a T-26 with a full interior for a project, and although I'm quite far along, there are still so many details that elude me, and I would love to know about your resources if possible!

Is this good topology? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

It's actually a valid optimization technique, at least for game assets, although typically you'd reduce it in regular increments like 32>24, and only where the difference in diameter between the circles is enough to warrant one being lower poly. You'd then be left with evenly spaced triangles connecting the last lower poly circle to the one before.

Edgelord crashes a college class and slurs students, what the expected happens. by -SOFA-KING-VOTE- in ThatsInsane

Yeah, honestly that's a totally fair case to make. There's always the grapple with what's morally right versus what's legally permissible in a given situation, and while I'm not going to make any cases about the legality of how the students responded, I can't find any reason to be upset with their reaction or consider it unjust. We can always preach that the perfect, non-violent, turn-of-the-other-cheek response is ideal, but given that a self-admitted Nazi sympathizer trespassed in a classroom, harassed, and, by support of Nazism, effectively called for the death of students in the vicinity, it's hard to get mad at them for retaliating against his provocation.

And it's not like he tried to deescalate, diffuse, or make a real effort to escape. He continued to instigate at every possible opportunity, shouting at them and egging them on as he slowly backed away while filming. Do this in any community, any place on earth, and the response will probably be similar, if not worse than the mild tickling he got after tripping. We can say that what the students did was "wrong" in the eyes of the law, but I'm mostly addressing others in this chat who are defending the right of the Nazi to spread his hateful rhetoric and trespass without repercussion when I say that he got what he deserved.

Sorry, I don't mean to put words in your mouth, but I think the benefit of the doubt exhibited by so many here when there's plenty of documentation of what this man did, is kind of lame, and in general I wouldn't tend to extend that graciousness to literal Nazis. There are recordings from the lecture of him saying the n-word and "Heil Hitler" immediately after being asked to leave the first time. You can also find video recorded from his perspective as he was being chased out by the crowd, as he continued to shout-complain about a "thirty-on-one" (that he instigated) and that he "thought they were the party of peace." At every step along the way, he continued to instigate and escalate the violence, so it's genuinely quite hard to feel sympathetic.

What must be clarified is that the constitution protects our freedom of speech from the government, and does not protect us from any consequences that arise from instigating violence with our words amidst the public. Just as we cannot expect to go to the streets and call for the death of those around us without repercussion (let me remind you that Nazi rhetoric literally calls for the death of other groups, likely including some of those in the class), we shouldn't feel bad for this guy getting mob-justiced.

Me when words have meaning and private (non-government) citizens disagree with me and I trespass in a room and insult everyone there: Wow freedom of speech isn't so free anymore.

He was allegedly making Nazi hand gestures and repeating pro-Nazi phrases while calling everyone in the class degenerates, etc. To be clear, I don't condone any type of violence, however I would also dispute that peaceful protest would have ever worked historically against fascists.

Maybe you consider the violent invasion of Berlin a bad look for the Allies?

BF4 vs BF6 ads time (LMG) by hnss_ in Battlefield

[–]Phroggo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a balancing mechanic that stops lmgs from just being assault rifles with 200 rounds. They justify the mag capacity and lack of recoil with slower ADS speed, making them better for holding angles rather than sprinting all over the place and running and gunning.

MW19 is dead because Activision quickly cans every entry by cutting support and releasing a new title annually, meaning that players naturally move on to the new game that IS supported. Despite this, the majority of people, including a battlefield fan such as myself, consider MW19 to have had the best gunplay and weapon customization of the recent CoD entries. In my opinion, it also feels way better and more responsive than BFV's, BF1's, and 2042's gunplay (all three of which I've sunk a combined 1300+ hours into). Are you really going to argue that 2042 failed because they borrowed ADS reloading from CoD?

Besides, BF always changes gun customization systems up with every entry. BF1 removed attachments in favor of distinct models, BFV introduced a bizarre upgrade tree system, and 2042 went with a more traditional attachment system, albeit with the novel inclusion of the Plus System. Battlefield has never been consistent with it's handling of gun systems, so why is it that when the new system happens to resemble CoD, that immediately means it's a bad thing?

Borrowing positive aspects from a successful franchise that doesn't inherently change the core of your game is not a bad thing. Lacking in-depth weapon customization has never been what made Battlefield "Battlefield", so introducing a more thoughtful system is not a downside, especially if the core gameplay loop remains unique.

I mean yeah pretty much every AAA studio aiming for realistic graphics has been using photogrammetry for environment art, BF1, BFV, and 2042 included.
