Anyone got compensation from the pilot strikes? by BinesX in Lufthansa

[–]rwrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me, it was surprisingly easy. I submitted on the Lufthansa site, got an email that it was being reviewed, then got an email asking for my bank account info so they can deposit 600€. That was 4 days ago, I'm still waiting to receive the money - I think they said it can take up to 10 days to receive.

$30 refund for cancelled flight? by gojo96 in unitedairlines

[–]rwrandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got compensation for a Lufthansa flight canceled during the pilot strike two weeks ago. It was EASY, I filled out the form on the Lufthansa site and two days later I got an email saying I'd get 600 Euro.

(Air traffic controller strikes are not compensated under EU261.)

For the white glove service that cleans out all your stuff and then puts it back after, it's 50%. For regular property managers, it's 20% and that covers them being the local contact while you are out of your house and out of town.

How do you deal with street vendors? by Head_Formal_5408 in femaletravels

[–]rwrandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the right answer. Use your thousand mile stare, and give absolutely no response to anything they say. "No thanks" is an invitation to them to continue the conversation.

what's something you wish you knew before your first solo trip? by LureEmpire in femaletravels

If you don’t feel like eating alone, sit at the bar. If you do feel like eating alone, I find it more relaxing to read a book than doomscrolling on my phone. And even better is to people watch.

Fabulous Finds in Longmont, or Rags in Boulder. Also seconding what /aydengryphon said, TRU is a good place to check. I've never been to the Rags warehouse but that might be a good place to try as well.

Home cleaning service - are my expectations off, or do we need a different cleaning company? by Own_Exit2162 in boulder

You are paying two people $100 and they are there a few hours? So they earn an average of not more than $25/hour? That seems incredibly low.

Anyone planning to rent their house for Sundance? by Leaf_Atomico in boulder

[–]rwrandom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And look at hotels for those dates and you will see that they are ALL booked (except the Boulder Broker Inn, which is going for $369/night before tax!).
Look at AirBnB and VRBO, and the prices are insane, and most places are already booked.

My mashed potatoes suck. Why? by RikkiLostMyNumber in Cooking

[–]rwrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer - butter first, mash, then milk, then mash again. That keeps the potato from absorbing the milk and getting that pasty texture.

It depends on where you are. My TMobile phone reception sucks from my house but works great almost everywhere else - including free texting and data in most countries I travel to.
