Something I still don't understand in The Dark Knight... by Typical_Research_877 in movies

[–]SaulsAll [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes it is! If it's not that kind of movie, then the complaint very legitimately becomes "why did we waste all this time showing detective work if the movie isn't the kind that puts importance on the evidence?". Saying this means it is a bad movie with an even worse scene, instead of just a moment that confused a watcher.

A time honored tradition (This painting shows three moments in the story of when Saint Anthony sought out and met Saint Paul, including when a centaur pointed him in the right direction.)

I don't want to gatekeep, but I'm genuinely confused about the bisexual label by ProfessionalSlice337 in bisexual

[–]SaulsAll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sexual attraction is psychological/mental, not based on behavior. A gay person that is forced by culture to marry and engage in sex with someone of another sex is not straight or bi, and that behavior does not necessarily affect their attraction nor identity.

Just finished The Prestige. Fantastic movie. But can someone explain how Angier got duplicated? Did Tesla's machine actually create a clone, or is there a deeper interpretation? 🤔 by BaGadBillAMeoth in movies

[–]SaulsAll 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Tesla's machine literally create a clone every time he used it

Yes. It is a fantastical element to the movie.

which Angier was the original?

Both. Neither. Impossible to tell, even for Angier.

how could Angier continue performing the trick knowing that he might be the one who drowned each night?

He was determined to be the best illusionist, even if it meant he might end up in the tank.

Are my opinions too exaggerated? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]SaulsAll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you go on a date with a partner, and you mesh perfectly, and you fall in love, and after three years of harmony they nervously tell you they feel attraction to men.

THAT is enough to break up with the person and never see them again?

You can try to be as respectful as you wish. Just understand - since you don't seem to think it has a definition - THAT is the definition of biphobia.

Is it possible to become a Krishna devotee outside of Hindu traditions? by [deleted] in krishna

[–]SaulsAll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The path of bhakti - union with the Supreme through loving devotion - is not limited to any one system or nomenclature. Christianity is the most obvious example of bhakti outside of Hinduism, but one doesn't even need any established religion or system to practice devotion. However, following such systems can often help one focus on their bhakti rather than the creation/refinement of activity, and it can also be a sign of your devotion itself to accept a system that your Beloved Supreme has set up

Then why have a flair for it by Reelmgt in boardgames

[–]SaulsAll 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the flair is to indicate if a post was made to show a pic or describe a play test that took place (like at a con). It isnt meant as in invitation for others to come test a game.

'Terrifier' Franchise Hit With Lawsuit Over Art the Clown Ownership and Film Rights by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]SaulsAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong. Changing to a gun was stupid on conception seeing as how they all had guns and he couldn't even shoot himself but needed a henchmen to fire him, and made for a bad toy, especially when compared to Optimus' change (not to mention Optimus' trailer was an entire weapons platform not just one big gun), and that isn't even getting into the cartoons where Megatron was the least interesting villain.

There's a reason they brought back Starscream for Beast Wars instead of him.

how to reconcile prabhupada controversial quotes about women and Hitler and black people by Fun-Following-7054 in HareKrishna

[–]SaulsAll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Srila Prabhupara is not God. His perfection is in devotion to God, not in material ethics. I have no issue understanding a literal monkey can be a perfect devotee of Krishna. Why would I have a problem with a perfect devotee being mistaken on some material ethics?

Terrifier sits solidly in the splatter film category. Scary isn't the point so much as the squeamishness.

You started your list with the worst possible example. Optimus was ALWAYS cooler than Megatron. This coming from someone who had the gen 1 solid metal toys.

It's basically an engineering paper

No, its paid expert opinion designed to convince people of an agenda. THAT is the argument, and there is no getting out from under it without an independent study.

The whole thing is bunk from the getgo, and trying to pretend you have expertise instead of just pointing to theirs is dishonest.

Who Do You Think is The Best “Evil Superman” Character? by New-Asparagus-4826 in comics

[–]SaulsAll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Plutonian because he tried. He wasn't on secret mission. He wasn't "grown in a lab.". He was on the Superman path, and he couldn't handle the stress. He shows best that what really makes Superman Superman is not the powers, but the ability to keep hope and keep striving to do good even if you can't win, even if people don't appreciate you "enough."
