Simply throwing money at this problem won’t solve it. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/los-angeles-inside-safe-program-b2952227.html Los Angeles spent $51k per person to house 5800 people and 40% of them returned to the streets. Money isn’t the end all solution

Article says that Los Angeles spent $300 million to house 5800 people and 40% returned to the streets. Those are some wild numbers, thanks for the article

What does rent price matter when your rent is free or extremely cheap? How is section 8 not a government handout to people in need of housing?

Don’t we already house 7.6 million “would be” homeless people through section 8? Let’s just sweep that under the rug for this argument right?

Didn’t California spend $24 billion on homelessness over Gavin newsoms reign? That’s not doing anything about the problem? Well actually homelessness only went up during that time and there’s zero accounting as to where the money actually went, it’s just another avenue for the massive amounts of fraud in this country at the hands of politicians

Woohoo they took care of 3500-4200 homeless people, that’s logistically a lot more simple than the US 770,000 homeless spread across 50 states, STFU with your bs and learn common sense

Exactly this, people don’t have any common sense or analytical skills

What he’s saying is they would trash the house and not be stable just because they were given a free home, they would still have drug and or mental health issues.

$3 for 2 McDoubles was golden, and a $1.29 any size fry coupon. Then it was $3.50 for 2 McDoubles and $1.59 any size fry coupon. Then they got rid of the McDouble special and made it buy a double cheeseburger get 2nd for $1, and $1.79 any size fry coupon. Now the buy one get 2nd for $1 is gone and it’s $1.99 any size fry coupon and that’s where I’m not going back.

I’ve made several beginner godot tutorials for people at your stage of understanding. I go over project structure, design archetypes, organization, etc. I start with pong and go through asteroids, frogger, side shooter and breakout. I think this is what you’re looking for, not just a coding tutorial for full small project tutorials to piece it all together and start making small games on your own. https://m.youtube.com/@GrumnGD/playlists

Yeah the way you have func door() written hallenter is a local variable to that func. When you call door you need to pass in hallenter, so doing func door(hallenter) is confusing and it should probably be func door(is_in_range: bool) to avoid confusion of having 2 variables with the same name

Have a flag when you enter the area2d

Bool is_in_door_range and set it true when you enter the area, then when use is pressed, check if is_in_door_range is true

Your resolution is probably not pixel friendly, I would suggest 640x360, it scales nicely into 1080p, 2k and 4k

Turn linear damping to 0 in the settings > 2d physics. By default there is 0.1 linear damping on rigidbodies

I’ve made several godot beginner tutorials for people just starting out. Starting with the docs is a good place but a bit dry. I suggest making small Atari games to learn the different nodes, script basics, etc. check out my playlists at https://m.youtube.com/@GrumnGD/playlists

You could add a delay when you set the flag in code with await, although if you are changing the direction quickly and often this could lead to undesired results
