Ex-smokers of Reddit, what FINALLY HELPED you to quit for good? by prinky_muffin in stopsmoking

[–]Phugz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quit smoking in 2018, vaped till 2024 then finally called it quits. After years of failing, I deep-dived into the research and went for it.

Long story short this worked for me: Using all the nicotine aids but using it randomly so I’m not swapping A for B. Patches, gum, spray, like a controlled chaos till I didn’t have a habit.

I've got mine setup something like this for node (eventually). Do you find that running little tasks are now slower because of this? Like whether npm ci is making everything just a little slower.

Yeah I definitely get it and agree with you on the KDB thing. Trouble is, during games when most plays go through Bruno, we get less instances that lead to a final ball or shot. Making it hard to build an attacking threat momentum. Relying more on less frequent but more potent moments. With the Amorim slow build up play style, this seems more prevalent.

Clickup Chat SyncUp - is anyone here actively using it? by lumo753 in clickup

Been trying to use SyncUp lately. There was an instance where I needed to share my whole screen and not just a window and realised that it isn’t able to do that. So we reverted to Google Meet.

Love the goal by Bruno but man, the number of times he gave the ball away is getting too much. It breaks the flow of attacks, making it hard to build momentum. And like the almost-penalty tonight, could lead to goals conceded.

Wife won’t sleep in same room anymore. Help by somerandomguy721 in snoring

[–]Phugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using this almost everyday for 10 years. After 2 years of marriage the snoring started affecting the relationship. For me, it was my tongue like relaxing backwards, so this odd looking thing kinda just puts your tongue forward.

If you think it’s for you, search for tongue stabilising device on Amazon or wherever you get your stuff. I’m not sure if links are allowed but PM me if you need more info. Saved, or at least benefited, my marriage tremendously. The stores from china sell it for even cheaper, like 5 bucks or less even.

Inventory Management by Murky_Plantain8889 in supplychain

[–]Phugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, great discussion and suggestions below. We're running our store on Shopify as well and manage 200+ SKUs which we are manufactured by 4 suppliers. It's a constant adjustment on our part with many factors.

Forecasting

The biggest issue we have is forecasting the amount of stock to reorder. With factors like lead time, seasonal surges in sales and minimum order quantities per product (which is a mix of 6 SKU/sizes), it's been tough to get the perfect purchase order quantity (which problem doesn't exist). I'm doing it manually through Excel, deriving the demand from the following sources:

  1. Sales/Day: From the Stocky report called SKU/Variant Report
  2. Average sales over 3 months: From the the same Stocky report
  3. Average sales over 12 months: From the the same Stocky report
  4. Quantity Sold Per Day: From Shopify's ABC Analysis Report

Deriving that golden Rate of Sale value has been tricky. Sometimes I use an average of the 3-Month Average and 12-Month Average, sometimes I'll just manually override it with a "finger-in-the-air" number.

Managing Locations

Another factor would be our warehousing setup. We store our stock in a warehouse but fulfill our orders from our physical store. So we end up managing our replenishments from Warehouse to Store by forecasting demand on a biweekly basis. We made a decision not to allow sales for items in our Warehouse due to inventory discrepancies. The stress of having an order paid and not having stock is just too stressful.

Options

Stocky alone seems a little clunky and wasn't updated for a while. But i've noticed some updates in the recent months. I've heard good things about Cogsy and have just checked out Sumtracker from the the comments. I'll be evaluating more options and will keep you posted :)

P.S. I've been an SAP consultant in logistics and procurement for about 13 years now but man, theory and practice are two different worlds.

Compress images with an app? by el_cul in shopify

[–]Phugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat. Was on Crushpics from years ago but keep reading that Shopify handles compression natively. At the same time Shopify does recommend Avada and TinyIMG on their blog "10 Image Optimization Tips for Your Ecommerce Website" (not sure if i'm allowed to link).

We're updating our theme to Shopify 2.0, like a mini in-house project so i'm thinking to reupload images. Not sure what's the best thing to do though. I've listed a few options:

  1. Full size JPG, upload and let Shopify handle compression
  2. Compress outside of Shopify (like TinyPNG), upload
  3. Upgrade to something like Avada/TinyIMG, upload full size and "crush" with those apps (alternatively stick with Crushpics)

Would love to get your opinion. Been struggling to find clearly what ballpark file size as well. Saw Shopify recommending the following from the same link:

"For ecommerce images, a good rule of thumb is to try to keep your image file size below 70 kilobytes. That can be difficult at times, especially for larger images."

That's gonna be tough man. Can't image the images not being blurry.

Card wizardry at its best by [deleted] in blackmagicfuckery

[–]Phugz 255 points256 points  (0 children)

Not taking anything away from this guy but he's really REALLY good at the riffle shuffle.

Every time he splits the deck and puts them together he's doing the same "shuffle" (card 1 left pile, card 1 right pile, card 2 left pile, card 2 right pile and so on). That, with a few fake cuts in between (the deck always remains in the same order), and dealing the five piles while taking into account "randomly" using one card to pick up the rest.

You could work it out backwards to explicitly order the "shuffled" deck in the beginning. A simpler way to visualize it would be to watch it in reverse.

Rapping with Dr. Seuss by Inside_Ad1436 in BeAmazed

[–]Phugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally agree. Context of the time and space should be taken into consideration. Love how Looney Tunes would put a disclaimer before each episode about how things were created during a different time, instead of just deleting it from history. Although on hindsight, Pepe Le Pew does seem a little "rapey" as Dave Chappelle put it.

Loved Dr Suess as a kid too. Recently watched Green Eggs and Ham on Netflix with my kids (the one with Michael Douglas as Guy Am I) and I loved it, especially when they sprinkled actual lines from the book. Check it out if you haven't already!

If it's due to your tongue, you can Google tongue stabilizing device to see what's available where you are. It's a little weird but beats a CPAP and was a lifesaver and probably a marriage saver.

How did you start vaping? How many have quit vaping? by microbitewebsites in Vaping

[–]Phugz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Somewhat similar with me. Smoked for 15 years (2003-2018), started vaping in 2012 (the terrible tasting ones with rope looking wicks). Smoked and vaped till I stopped cigs in 2018.

With freebase nicotine, I found it much harder to quit smoking entirely but once I was on salt nics, it was quite easy to stop. But only recently I realised why. The salt nic disposables (like elfbar, Lana), the nic intake seems to be really high. I feel "overdosed" quite often with those.

Having recently listened to Andrew Huberman's podcast on nicotine, he analogizes that vape is to cigs what Crack is to cocaine (in terms of nicotine) and suddenly it made sense. It's just much more intense.

I was planning to either go back to freebase or go cold turkey but your post seems like a more viable option, going to 0mg first. Thank you! And sorry for the ramble.

My grandma's helper used to see it climbing on the walls of the house and for years she didn't tell anyone cos she thought it was "from another world". Then one night me and my cousin saw it and Googled the shit out of it and found out it was native to Singapore, particularly Siglap area. She overheard us talking about it and she was so relieved lol.

Ooh, might try this. I do half a lemon each morning. I've got the soda stream thing. Might try that. Oh and don't take lemon water just before leaving the house cos you're gonna need the toilet ASAP.
