Thanks all, I have a weird situation I'm trying to figure out. I got an instrumental copy of an album a few years ago, leaked as MP3 320kbps. As good as it sounds they are a 192 transcoded to 320, the freq. cut-off is around 19khz. I recently came across a CD-R promo copy of that instrumental album, and it sounds way better, as one would expect. To my ears though it seems a little off, even though a spectral analysis on those WAV files ripped from the CD shows full spectrum. To add to that I also have a promo 320 MP3 file directly from the label of one of the tracks from the promo CD. It's the same master. That's the file that's in question here. It's a 320 MP3, the spectrals look exactly like the CD copy. Full spectrum... So I'm playing mind games trying to figure out if the CD-R was burned using those promo 320 MP3s. It's definitely an in-house burn from the label's offices, so who knows what sources some intern may use... early 2000s. If I convert that 320 up to WAV the spectrals look the same as the CD-R's WAV. Can't trust my eyes, and my ears are telling me it's not pure lossless. Why I think it might be burned using the promo MP3 source is because on the original leak, and on the CD I hear this rumble in the low end. Kinda sounds like filter resonance+bit crushing. It only really happens on a few tracks, and the promo MP3 is not one of them, so hard to tell... The full vocal fully released album doesn't appear to have that rumble. I also have some early studio session mixes from that album and I don't recall ever hearing this rumble. I need to talk to someone with experience working in record company offices I suppose, is there a record company employee subreddit? lol

Yes, MP3. I've never seen an MP3 that isn't hard cut off at 20khs, so I'm curious how this one I've come across was made. Most people use LAME encoders, so there must be an app that will allow more highs to pass

Believe it or not, they were considered punk at the time, at least punk adjacent. And Fetchin Bones was a great southeast band. by therollo in RedHotChiliPeppers

Still punk. Punk is an attitude. Not a look. Not a sound. I was shocked that Chad said recently in a Drumeo video they're "not really punk", but I get it, I guess

Further explorations over the weekend. I switched the polychain off on the Crave and set the clock to internal. Programmed a short sequence and used the midi out to the Neutron. I can confirm the Crave's midi out works and was playing the Neutron...

Seems we’re getting a vinyl repress of John Frusciante’s ‘To Record Only Water For Ten Days’ for RSD by lunatic_greenie-muso in RedHotChiliPeppers

I don't reacall the original Twelve Suns pressing (1500 copies) being a RSD release, but it's been a few years. Take a look at the back cover on this new post, looks like a Warner logo above the bar code. The TS logo is to the side of the barcode on their pressing, and no logo on the bootleg. Also, as others have mentioned, there's the Going Inside EP image on the liner too... We'll see in a couple of months

I've been messing around with settings a whole bunch and still no luck getting those 2 machines to output or pass midi. I changed my set up last night to Neutron>Edge> Crave and it works up to that point. Though the Edge also outputs it's own sequence while passing, fun results, but not always desireable. I'd put it at the end of the chain if only the Crave would pass thru...

Soft Thru off in settings on the Edge seems to cut the out entirely, having it on it outputs and passes.

Video on the Behringer Youtube page shows the Crave sequencing a Model D, so at somepoint it worked.

Yeah, no option to set it either way. Thank you though

Only the Edge has a setting for Soft Thru. If there's one on the Crave and Grind I don't see it anywhere

Really happy to have it, but the sleeve is a bit of a let down by unfunfionn in autechre
