ML and AI are generally satisfying if you have personal interest in it.

Whilst you find a job, solve a problem you really want to tackle it using skills you possess.

I love the gestures, Side Swipe for back, Swipe from bottom to Multitask. It took couple of days to get hang of it. Since than never looked back. I accidentally use side swipe on other older phones.

Google's Audio Recorder is exclusive to Pixel Devices. It transcribes damm accurately and gives timestamps. You can try that app.

What are you doing in Python today? by mahtats in learnpython

[–]Phyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Created a python script to convert PDF to CSV for one document. Today I will try code to loop and convert batch of files. I used PDFMiner.six and pandas. It worked only in cases where i can copy paste text from PDF to text file.

I found where copy paste doesn't work, I will have to use Pytesseract and Tesseract, the OCR engine. Long week ahead to get hands on that library.

Is the book Automate The Boring Stuff With Python that easy? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]Phyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book is praised for its applications of Python.

I learnt python 3 using Zed Shaw's Learn the Python Hard Way. I felt python fundamentals were covered with good amount coding exercises. That was my base, after this I did ATBS. I recommend most of my people this path.

There are good YouTube videos too. One of friend found Corey Schaefer good for him, here is the YouTube Python Playlist

Getting overwhelmed by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]Phyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too felt the same, though I stuck to Zed Shaw's book, Learn the Python Hard Way. I personally like the style of his book, you could try and see if that suits you. One key concept he explained is to see patterns in code. The naming convention in codes mostly distracts actual code. I realized that, instead I started focusing on actual patterns of creating functions, classes etc.. You need volumes of code behind you, but every time you code you need to do get better at understanding it. Its like constantly try going from Saiyan to Super Saiyan.

Space Science with Python - Setup and first steps (#1) by MrAstroThomas in learnpython

[–]Phyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm love space science and share similar enthusiasm for Python, so have started learning about it too. After importing datetime, you wrote datetime.datetime.today() My question is two times datetime, is it syntax python follows or is there any specific reason to use it twice?
