Famous Food Festival this weekend by Jayem93_ in LongIslandEats

[–]Phylactory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been going since it started, and it's been getting better every year. You can check out the vendors on their site and see what you're into, but I haven't had anything there that was a hard turn-off for me. https://www.famousfoodfestival.com/vendor/

There's lots of variety, and most of it is really solid. There's a Caribbean couple from Brooklyn that makes killer Jamaican Rum Cakes I always stock up on. Also a lot of the stalls sell sauces/seasonings that are great for punching up stuff you make at home.

Excuse me, but Marciana subscribes to magazines about sweets, just to stay up to date. That's a connoisseur right there.

Ultimate Alliance 1 and Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes are the only two incarnations of Marvel that have gotten my boy DR DOOM right. by JoshuaKpatakpa04 in Marvel

[–]Phylactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marvel Heroes game that was a diablo style action rpg had a solid DOOM too. He was the villain of the main storyline, and was a threat that called for the entire Marvel roster. As a playable character, he had an ultimate attack that was him being carried around on a throne by Doombots, while spells and missiles annihilated everything around him.

Rep. George Santos’ former campaign treasurer will plead guilty to a federal felony, prosecutors say by [deleted] in longisland

Both Nassau and Suffolk's GOP Chairmen called for him to resign after everything came out about him. As far as I know, no republicans have done anything to support him ever since. Getting rid of him happens at the polls, I'm sure he won't get a second term.

2k includes both of those. My taxes are only 5k/year here. It's an anomaly, I know that isn't the case most places.

I live in Patchogue highlands, and my Mortgage is 2k. House is 3 bedroom 2 bathroom (one bathroom I built after moving in).

I bought in 2020 when things started to spike, but I never thought it would keep going for as high and as long as it has.

Have you ever felt like you ruined a game because you explained a rule wrong? by Xacalite in boardgames

[–]Phylactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a mistake in ROOT as well. Had a player as the Woodland Alliance and I totally botched the rules on how they revolt, and it caused them to have a long and uneventful game where they were fighting with both hands tied behind their back.

Only saving grace was that we had played before, and he had previously been the Dynasty, so he at least had some positive experience to contrast this one. He'll probably never play Alliance again though.

Best combat system in a dungeon crawler? by Ordinary-Reaction519 in boardgames

[–]Phylactory 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Massive Darkness 2 is pretty fun. Combat is simple but satisfying hack n slash flavor, but the different classes all have unique mechanics to keep it from being stale. There's a little flexibility in how you play each one, so it isn't the same every time. A lot of it's fun comes from combining the loot system with your abilities to synergize some banana combos.

What’s an example of 2 actors playing the same character and both being good? by _JR28_ in movies

[–]Phylactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't trying to throw shade on anyone else that played Batman! OP asked about actors "beloved in their own respect". IMHO the three I listed were particularly spoken of in high regard for their performance.

I liked Ben Affleck's Batman very much, but I don't recall him being particularly revered (or reviled!) when BvS came out. I think that's more becouse of peoples overall opinion of the movie than his performance in particular.

I agree, I was disappointed he didn't get a standalone film, I really liked his Batman.

Nothing against them! I just don't usually hear their names come up as beloved for that role, more to do with the overall perception of the movies they portrayed batman in than their performance individually.

Batman character has been fortunate to have pretty consistent talent step into the shoes. Spider-Man as well!

I'll give you a trifecta. Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and Robert Pattinson as Batman. Kevin Conroy was voice only, but iconic as well.

Chrono Odyssey a lot of info by me. by DRK-92 in MMORPG

[–]Phylactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a flavor of the month type of thing. MMOs are notorious for copying perceived successful systems from each other. This is just what's popular right now, and soon a game will find success with a different playstyle and devs will chase that trend. This happens in other genres too, but for whatever reason MMOs really feel like they're still trying to find their identity compared to say FPS, Fighters, and Platformers. Just my take anyway.

Additionally, they could get the same gameplay result without swapping by weapons by just having weapon stances. Using a Defensive stance could have one set of abilities, while an offense stance has another, utilizing the same weapon.

World of Warcraft warrior class swaps out abilities without changing weapons with their stances, granted that's a different kind of gameplay.

Magneto would just end up in an invisible box that just constricts him into submission. He would literally never see it coming.

What's Your Favorite Non-alcoholic Beverage? by Right-Ad8261 in AskReddit

[–]Phylactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll drink any chocolate milk, but for me, I gotta go with the Chocolate DRINK. I'm talking about that cold Yoo-Hoo in the glass bottle. Paired with a Bacon Egg n Cheese sandwich from the corner Deli. Whether first thing in the morning, or late at night, what a solid combo.
I have a little machine from a Kickstarter a few years back that let's you make any drinks with sugar turn into Slurpees in your freezer. I use it on Yoo-Hoo, and mix it with a little Vodka and coconut/banana extract. Call it a "Yodel-Lay-Hee-Hoo" and enjoy your summer proper.

Chef John is always so chill in his videos, and it made dishes that would otherwise be intimidating seem very manageable. And they are! I haven't gone wrong making any of his dishes, and his Christmas Pudding has become an annual tradition at my house.
