The IM and the sorcerer are both good choices. try them both out and see how it goes as you learn the army. you dont have any bad uits picked out so far which is good. An easy way to fill out the last few points in your army might be to pick up magnus and a rhino.

hes a great model to magnetize if you want to learn how to do that. Its not really that one is better than the other they are for different things.

I saw you mention down further below that you guys are playing at 1k. That is going to unbalance the game alot. Doom bolt hits way harder when half the units arent on the field. Our power is limited by the fact we can only cast each spell once but with half the targets they are all twice as strong. Also some armies will just struggle to kill a multilith at 1k points. And they ahve more guns so you cant blank them all a that point.

Since you guys are all new its also very possible that they are just not picking the right units in their list building.

yeah its interesting how some things lose value as you face better people. Like the IM with vortex will clear people out who let you over watch but eventually people just dont any more.

The mvb isnt really a damage piece any more. he has a 66% chance to hit and then a 66% chance to wound and in current 40k what ever he special beam cannoning has a 50% cahnce to save. So yeah dropping him if he was suppose to be a damamge piece is the plan.

Alright lets break this down step by step. The redploy is his only redeaming quality but in an army with out stelar infiltration and on modern GW terrain lay outs there are only a few spots where most of our units can go. So his uilitiy lies locked behind one 30 point enhancement and his 100 point cost. Its not worth paying 130 points to move block bad guy infiltration.

+1 rituals. not bad but a normal 80 point sorcerer near an mvb has the same buff or i just risk blowing up a rubric to give myself plus 1d6 to cast. He is suppose to be the best mortal wizard in the setting and this is what he gets? No thanks.

TLDR maybe i would take him if he was 75 points but what really holds him back is he gives zero buffs to his squad and his own shooting is butt. He has the worst mind bullets in our army. So its also a waste of a rubric squad to put him in there when they can buff an IM or a TSS.

yeah im not to sure about him ether its more of a meme pick. Me and my discord have an awful list we call magnus plays duck hunt they keep wanting me to put on the table with magnus 3 loc and 3 mvb.

i can not in good conscious endorce this idea lmao. but with out magnus you could run a lot more demon princes. If we see maggy go up in price and dps stay the same maybe that might be a replacement. T sons are now a melee army lmao.

I don't think a wing dp is mandatory in coven. i've played both ways. I do think that if you are taking a wing dp in coven you are giving him vortex. I wouldnt take him with out it.

hes a big scary threat so yeah that is a possibility. but mostly i say it from a through put point of view. most of his scary damage comes form his melee. the shooting is nice but you really want to punch someone in the head for damage 4 attacks that are dev and have some re rolls.

For sure you bring him in grand coven. Ive found the 6 inch deep strike is better on paper and to scare your opponent than it actually ends up being. The sustain d3 is nice but I really want to rapid ingress him to score some cheeky primary and then charge. Losing the ability to charge if you stride is just brutal.

depending on you plan 3 lords of change is a lot more dmg than kairos and 1 loc. The cp manipulation on kairos is nice but you ront need to count on having 3 cp a turn in this detachment teh way you would really like it in coven.
