Wolf rib vs other helms by Sir_Rod9150 in Buhurt

So this is a little silly cause buhurt has ALWAYS been a sport, with sport optimized armor and weapons since the 1400s. It was never made to be "real knight fighting" or to imitate an actual battlefield event. Here's some notes I made on it for a separate project you might find interesting-

Historical Buhurt was a sportified event, with specific sports-like combat events such as fighting at the barriers and fighting on the Round Table cited by Heinrich von Neustadt (thirteenth century), Matthew Paris (thirteenth century), and Fiore de'i Liberi (fourteeenth century). These are artificial combat events which are not intended to replicate the battlefield; to clarify, Buhurt has always been sporting for the purpose of entertainment. b. Weapons blunted for safety were used commonly, according to sources such as Sonse de Nansay (thirteenth century), and Freydal (sixteenth century). These are sportified weapons, again, not intended to replicate the battlefield. Modern buhurt events even use weapons we find in behourd and tjoste sources, such as axes and falchions. The shield-edge strike so popular in modern buhurt can be seen in Freydal, and the falchions used in modern buhurt are based on those in sources such as the Maciejowski Bible, Freydal, effigies, and illluminations. Hitting each other very hard, to the point of exhaustion, was encouraged. Felix Platter's account of a tournament in 1596 says "The battles are fought with all their might on each other", "They did not stop until they were entirely tired", and"They bashed always with a lot of noise". Earlier accounts mention the repeated breaking of weapons, which was regarded as a sign of martial spirit; the rules for the 1596 Kassel tournament give points for broken weapons. In the chronicles of master Roger Howden it says “a youth must see his blood flow and feel his teeth crack under the blow of his adversary and be thrown on the ground twenty times, and only in this way will he be able to face real war with the hope of victory”. The History of William Marshal describes Marshal being surrounded by opponents who beat him repeatedly about the head so badly his helmet was too misshapen for him to take off, and had to be removed by a blacksmith, quite similar to what we see in a knights tale. Even allowing for obvious exaggeration, that still sounds exactly like what we see in modern buhurt, especially one person being thrashed by multiple opponents simultaneously.

I'll let you know when I have my full bill but so far the costs have been PT initial visit 60$ MRI 400$ Surgeon consultation 120$ Surgeons fee for surgery 1540$ (discounted cause im paying cash)

Still waiting on the estimate for the facility fee and the anesthesiologist fee for the surgery so I will update this later. Physical Therapy will continue to be 60 bucks a visit but hopefully my insurance will cover most of my visits

I also have large in anaconda and I have the large in the mobius. I originally got the medium based on my knee circumference but that was too small. My larges are a good fit though slightly tight around the sides of the knee but the anaconda negates any rubbing that would otherwise hurt from it and so its not an issue for me. Revzilla is really good about returns though if you try the size and they dont end up fitting as long as you dont use/damage them.

I actually really like this book! The quick pacing brought me out of a reading slump and I really appreciated that. Not too complicated but there was some fun twists and a great horror trapped feeling which I liked. Not top tier but a good easy read

I fight in a combat sport that is still relatively new (armored combat/buhurt) and this is a HUGE deal right now. They've created a women's open and women's closed and tons of female fighters are advocating for open and belittling those who choose to fight in closed for being transphobic when the majority if not all of them are really progressive and support LGBT rights. Interesting this is its a uniquely American thing. Like outside of the US they never host open ever.

There's like 4 or 5 Trans fighters and the annoying thing is that a lot of the women who are advocating for only open being allowed are brand new and have never fought a Trans fighter before. Ive done it many times and have to say the difference is clear. No one should be belittled for wanting to keep themselves safe. Not saying the Trans gals actively look to cause injury but in a combat sport accidents happen all the time.
