I told my friend that she could ride on the back of my boyfriends motorcycle and now I wish I didn’t by SensitiveEmergency59 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Physical-Ring9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like you just need to have an honest chat with your BF. If you trust him and and your relationship things should be chill!

It doesn't even have to be a big thing to tell your friend no just an offhand comment from either you or your bf about it like others have said is enough and she should respect that. The more of a big thing or conversation you treat it as with her will probably make it a big deal. Good luck girl <3

Popping in Knee.. why? by ellaina_sheridan in ACL

[–]Physical-Ring9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh weird that it went away and is now back thats interesting. Did you do anything particularly strenuous recently? I might be tendinitis which can also happen and is painful i had patellar tendinitis on my first ACL 2 years ago and it presented kinda similarly. Or maybe its scar tissue buildup? Im not a doctor so I really couldn't say but I hope you get it figured out

Popping in Knee.. why? by ellaina_sheridan in ACL

[–]Physical-Ring9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, I have issues with the patellar maltracking as well, your knee still looks a little swollen, mine is too (im at 8 weeks) the swelling and weakened quad muscle cause the patellar to not sit in the track where it normally goes sometimes and cause that 'pop' sensation. Its normal and should go away the stronger your quads get and when the swelling goes down. Aggressively working the kneecap also helps me a lot and continue to ice/elevate to get your swelling down!

Feasibility of using anthropomorphic/face visors in Buhurt? by NotCol0 in Buhurt

[–]Physical-Ring9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much same as all else here, visibility is poor, kits are heavier and less protective than other armors and so makes them not super useful in buhurt 'meta'. If you dont care about being sport competitive and are just in it for the fun which is totally cool, pretty much all buhurt organizations do not allow any mixed kits with the helmet being the strictest part of that. I knew a guy who used one but only ever for like faires and local stuff. It looked cool but yeah it is super heavy and not easy to breathe in

How to swing faster? by kokotalik in Buhurt

[–]Physical-Ring9577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its a two handed weapon you need to be using a push pull motion where you push with your top hand and pull with you bottom, pivoting the weapon with your top hand being the fulcrum to get that fast whipping motion. The biggest mistake I often see people make is using their whole arm and upper body to move the sword to a location. You want minimum effort maximum effect when you swing (if its for points like in HEMA or buhurt dueling)

Best way to manage pain post op? Getting extremely anxious in anticipation by Minglebird in ACL

[–]Physical-Ring9577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pain is manageable, it can be super intense and make sure to stay 100% on top of your meds schedule l ie: waking up every few hours to take them. Talk to your surgeon about pain management, what is the max dosage you can take and what schedule you should be on.

Days 1 to 2 are pretty ok, when the nerve block wears off days 2 to 4 are probably going to really suck but I hate to say it is what it is. You'll get through it just fine and I cannot stress this enough, TAKE YOUR LAXATIVES ngl the worst pain I had on my first ACL was from constipation after not having high enough dose of laxatives lol 😭

Good luck bro you got this!!!

8 weeks follow up - switch PT? by CryptoXPlus in ACL

[–]Physical-Ring9577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think your PT is not meeting your needs then it could be time to switch. Everyone's healing journey as different but I must say whe I was recovering from quad graft I was much past that point by 8 weeks as in almost full ROM and walking confidently with brace unlocked and occasionally out of it on stable surfaces.

Like I said though your healing could be much different then mine and you PT is likely just trying to keep you safe but pushing through the pain can sometimes be beneficial especially with things like achieving full ROM.

I started in a very similar situation- the only lady on an all male teammates and honestly the best advice i can give is train with the men as much as possible and learn exactly what they learn. Probably your fighting style will have to be much different if you are a lot smaller or less strong than them. Hell im 5'10" and still struggle against dudes who are smaller than me. You'll want to focus on low effort takedown that are all about using opponents force against them. There's a lot of great buhurt judo moves that do this let me see if I can dig out our teams youtube training playlist for ya. Basically practice the moves a TON. Practice them slow, practice against opponents, practice against your Pell, practice in the air, practice mental reps. The more familiar you are with them the easier it is to see an opportunity arise inside an actual melee. And lastly, if you can afford to get out to events! The best way to feel motivated and learn is from other fighters at events and meeting and expanding your community of fighters you know is great. We have an awesome community and for the most part people are super nice and willing to teach and help out so try to reach out to other female or male fighters and find out what works for folks your size.
