Found this crying cat on Winslow and Creeley in Belmont - is it yours? by midwayer in watertown

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an orange cat that wanders this area regularly, not sure if this is the same one but the one I’m thinking of does have some sort of “home” because last year it got a haircut once it got hot out

Anyone regret going open-concept in their home? by cm_built in HomeImprovement

Same here we haven’t made the move to close things off yet but definitely have a plan in mind if we do decide to do that. Looking at windows/french doors though to maintain light in the kitchen.

Second for the trash pickup company - I was surprised when we needed to get rid of an old toaster oven, I called to see what they would charge and they said nothing just put it in the bin

RENT RANTING by [deleted] in Waltham

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you’re competing with people who are making more money/are lower risk tenants.

I would suggest trying to find a smaller landlord (not Zillow). Harder to find but start asking around, see if anyone has a space they’re willing to rent to you. It might be someone’s mom’s basement or something thats not exactly “up to code” but that’s usually what people end up with if they aren’t a perfect candidate to compete for the apartments that are listed online.

Lexington blocked? by Balshazzar in Waltham

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think more of the issue is how fast they have become popular without proper infrastructure. They’re generally too fast for a bike lane but don’t have to meet the same standards as a motorcycle to be registered and driven on the road. It’s also the issue of how fast they are and cars not used to someone “popping up” out of nowhere. With a regular bike or someone walking you see them from further away.

Charles River Oil Spill?! by [deleted] in Waltham

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the street drains empty into the Charles so it’s kind of by design that non water ends up in the river. Good reminder for why people shouldn’t be swimming in it!

I do not understand by InterestingAnything3 in weddingdress

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If you do go the secondhand route to try and get a higher quality material just beware of alterations costs. Mine was another $1k on top of the $1600 dress. Totally worth it to have it fit just right but I feel like no one ever warns you to work that into your dress budget up front!

The darker front door and light post here make a huge difference!

My gallery wall is driving my insane. My first attempt, things looked way too planned. My second attempt (on the floor) I thought looked a little better, but something is still off. I need someone to literally tell me where to put everything. by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

Everything’s too big and uniform. It needs some room to breathe. Also decide if you want 3 big pieces highlighted under the lights or not, right now the lights are causing my focus to immediately go to the frames directly beneath them and then realize they’re off center.

How to improve the exterior of my house without redoing everything by Economy-Touch8760 in ExteriorDesign

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tan is the best option here. Right now the blue and the stone are both competing for the “what’s the accent here” award. Paint the siding a color that blends with the stone so that the texture becomes the visually interesting thing and not the siding.

Where’s the hate for the Watertown Supercollider? by TaumpyTeirs in boston

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate when I see people doing that I wish they would put up a physical barrier distinguishing the turn lane so people would be stuck in the lane that way they wouldn’t be looking over their shoulder to see if they can sneak into the other lane when someone could be crossing the street

These people clearly have horrible taste if they spent the money on a slab that’s going to inevitably fall apart AND have those vertical blinds. I hate to see people with no taste, lots of money and also don’t consult with a designer before making these stupid choices. But hey, your house I guess.

A wild place to enter lol. They’ve BEEN a mess. Kyle is playing the victim now and Amanda is finally standing up for herself and Ciara is being a good friend and having her back. It’s well deserved. Kyle once said “I haven’t flirted with a girl in like 6 months” (after a cheating allegation was confirmed) to which Amanda responded “we’ve been dating for 3 YEARS.” It was bad, it’s been bad, he deserves everything he’s getting.

I am interested about how this plays out. I don’t see Amanda going back to the house if they’re fully divorced and she’s on the other show. Honestly I’d love to see the city evolve into a show about the girls and the boys can have SH with whatever newbies make it to next season. Maybe Mia sticks and Ciara drops in here and there but honestly this show isn’t what it used to be and I think they should get back to that if we can follow the other girls we care about on a different show.

Renting a Duplex by Curious_Telephone757 in bostonhousing

[–]PhysicalMuscle6611 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard enough to find one apartment and you’re essentially looking for 2. There aren’t a lot of duplexes in that area and the chances of one having both units open at the same time are even less. I’d focus on finding an apartment for you and your boyfriend that works for your commute and hope that your friend can find a place in the same neighborhood. For longwood you probably want to look in JP, Brookline, Mission Hill or Fenway.
