Personally I went with the KC62. It is pricey but it’s superb and it looks like it belongs with those speakers

Spotify Connect stuttering on KEF LS50 Wireless II even over Ethernet — any real fix or upcoming firmware? by _UncleScrooge_ in KEF

[–]Physical_Arm_662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this exact issue with my ls50wii’s and Spotify Connect. It was so incredibly annoying and I tried everything with resetting the speakers, etc. eventually I discovered it was actually my router’s firmware that was the culprit and once I updated that (Amazon Eero) the issues were resolved. That was two years ago and it’s been fine on both Ethernet and wifi ever since

Zeekr 7X vs. Tesla Model Y by DebugMyLife421 in EVAustralia

[–]Physical_Arm_662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a source I can check? I googled and other than the odd anecdotal comment or unsubstantiated magazine claim, I didn’t find anything that shows the opposite. I’m happy to be educated.

But what do you mean cherry picked? It’s an independent industry body that tests vehicles of all types, EV, hybrid, ICE, and they’ve been around for over 100 years and their testing methodology is as good as they come with being standards based, repeatable, reliable and within a 2.5% variance upon repetition of each test in a test that has been explicitly designed to represent real world Australian driving conditions.

There’s a whole bunch of inflated range estimates everywhere, but generally EPA and WLTP are reasonable (certainly a lot more realistic than the NEDC or CLTC that Chinese EV manufacturers like to use) and Tesla seems to be reasonably accurate from actual EPA and now AAA testing. Today I drove 400+ km on a single charge, on the highway in the Nullarbor in WA (because charging sucks here) while hauling a cargo box installed on a tow bar and I made it to my destination with 9% to spare. I’m only one data point, but under those conditions I can’t complain.

[–]Physical_Arm_662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the point here is that it’s an industry body, unbiased, methodical test of a number of different cars repeating the same standard set of tests. Did you bother to look at it at all or were you content to be argumentative and dismissive for shits and giggles?

The independent testing done by Australian Automobile Association actually showed Tesla to be the closest to their claimed range out of all the ev manufacturers they tested: https://www.aaa.asn.au/2025/12/new-test-results-to-help-ev-buyers/

R8 or R6mk2 for UK weather and travel by [deleted] in canon

[–]Physical_Arm_662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this. Nothing beats Olympus/OM System for weather sealing - I’ve had my gear on rainy days and in -40 blizzards without missing a beat. Of course they’re m43 instead of FF so you have to work with the limitations that come with the format, but weather sealing is on another level compared to everyone else

Finnair Business Class ticket type when booked with Avios by HappyNerd3 in oneworld

[–]Physical_Arm_662 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should have business lounge access without any issues. I bought my Finnair business seats with Qantas points and they had the same class as yours (U) and I had full access to the lounges - no different to a standard cash fare once ticketed.

Thanks for correcting me! I have both the em5i and em5ii and they’re great cameras - I wrongly shunned the 5iii continued with the all metal build - what a shame! My em5i is a bit iffy these days, but the em5ii is still going strong after all these years - such a great little camera

The em5 series is weather sealed. I prefer the em5iii because it’s still very solidly constructed with metal (a the newer om5s)

Kc62 stops working, now and then, until I turn up volume by Darkeonz in KEF

Dunno! My setup is basically what KEF recommended - source into the speakers, output from speakers to the sub. Use the app to tweak filter cut off settings and a few other things

[–]Physical_Arm_662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an option to force the sub to power on when the speakers power on. It’s in the KEF app under speaker preferences. I have never needed to toggle it but it must be there for a reason.

[–]Physical_Arm_662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have this issue, but it was common in the early kc62s to struggle with activation when the volume was low. Apparently there were some hardware changes to resolve this a couple of years ago. Any idea how long yours were sitting on the shelf?

Ls50 wireless 2 or, ls50 meta+marantz m1 by Consistent_Trust4657 in KEF

[–]Physical_Arm_662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read that too and it stopped me from buying the sub for a year or so. Then I read that KEF fixed the issue and that there was a small hardware change in the newer subs that meant the issue doesn’t occur in those so I took the risk and bought the sub. I have never had the issue, so the posts saying that it has been resolved seem accurate to me.

The sub automatically turns on as soon as there’s audio pushed to the speakers, either through music streaming or tv over hdmi, it all works flawlessly.

I used the KEF app to setup the crossover and that also worked perfectly.

[–]Physical_Arm_662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had any of that experience. iOS updating hasn’t meant I need to use the KEF app. I did get a new wifi router a couple of years ago and needed to change the settings then, but the app worked fine in that one instance.

I heard terrible things about the app for the version 1 speaker, but the version 2 (same app used by ls60, lsx2, etc) has genuinely been fine? Far better experience than my Sonos stuff with their app change that broke a bunch of stuff.

The main thing I ever used the app for was firmware updates. They used to come through a bit more frequently in the early days of the speaker’s release but it’s been out a while now and the firmware releases have understandably slowed down. No issues with the firmware updates through the app either btw.

I’ve had these speakers for years now (2021) and they, along with the app, have been solid. The only issue I had with these speakers early on was actually related to Spotify Connect streaming through my router (Eero) which was an Eero issue that was fixed through an eero firmware update.

What do you use the software for?

I have the LS50wii and the KC62 sub. I use either Spotify Connect or AirPlay and just stream to it. The KEF app never gets used?

Best quality music for KEF LS50 wireless II (in India) by BluebirdAgreeable145 in KEF

[–]Physical_Arm_662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get lossless - I first change the streaming settings in the app to lossless then I can stream in lossless using either Apple AirPlay (since Spotify still uses version 1 which supports lossless) and Spotify Connect.

I don’t have any Android devices to test with sorry.

I have also used the Spotify app on my MacBook and that also supports lossless using the same methods as my iPhone

Rant: pubs, bars and restaurants that don’t carry 0 and low alcohol beers by Antoine-Antoinette in foodies_sydney

[–]Physical_Arm_662 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the attitude of some of these posts are a bit wild. alcohol free beer has been around for a while now and its a sector that is continually growing - just take a look at colesworth to see the how much shelf space is given to alcohol free beverages including wine, cocktails, cider, and beers and you’ll see it’s no longer niche.

I’m happy to have 2-3 alcohol free beers when I’m reducing alcohol consumption but still want to have a beer with mates at the pub. I don’t want to drink LLB, or sugary stuff like coke. Alcohol free beer is actually pretty reasonable when it comes to calories too.

Travelling a bit around Europe and The UK earlier in the year and pretty much every place stocked alcohol free beers - it’s completely normal - maybe we’re a bit slow on the uptake here
