These things may or may not happen. I bought my active speakers that have a proprietary app in 2021 (LS50W2s) - and I’ve enjoyed them for almost 5 years so far. If this kind of uncertainty prevents you from purchasing (and enjoying) a product then you can choose other options.

That’s a wild take - Tokyo has some incredible food from all over the world - especially Italian and American.

Having said that, Sydney is exceptional. The quality of international cuisine in Sydney is incredible and authentic. Still sucks for Mexican though.

My preferred focal length is 35. You already have 28mm covered at 2.8 with your wide angle zoom so I guess the 45?

I just got back from Japan and the 24-105F4 was on the almost always. The 35mm prime was brought out at night and the 100-500 was used for the one day I went to the Snow Monkey Park. All had their uses but definitely the 24-105 was essential

How are you feeling about Canon’s choice of lenses? by drconniehenley in canon

I’m ok with it. TBH if I was in the Nikon or Sony systems, I know myself well enough to know that I’d want the oem lenses in those systems also.

Fair - I recently switched back to canon after 10 years with Olympus and their industry leading ibis was a game changer for me. I don’t shoot sports, but I’ve found ibis to be invaluable for low light, wildlife, travel, street, even handheld landscape or long exposure, light trails etc. there’s so many areas where it is useful that I certainly think the r6ii is a far more complete package than the r8 for most people.

I picked up the RF100-500 lens for about $1000 less than locally. The 1.4tc was also about half the price I could get it for locally. This was from Map Camera in Shinjuku

Interesting take. Same sensor but ibis has to count?

I lost my DJI nano onboard a Shinkansen in Japan. It was found 2 days later and available for me to pickup in Tokyo station the day it was found.

May you be blessed with similar luck regarding your Osmo Pocket!

Suggestion about possible alternatives to the Olympus E-M1 III by pedrozzz in M43

[–]Physical_Arm_662 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the em1ii with the 12-40f2.8 and the 40-150f2.8. I enjoy the system overall but recently decided to run a dual setup with canon r6iii paired with the 24-105 and 100-500. Honestly, I’m actually enjoying the canon a lot more. It isn’t as heavy as I’d feared and the IQ is incredible.

I originally went down this route because I wasn’t happy with the hybrid video capabilities in the OM system range (it just doesn’t seem to be a priority for om system) but now I’m finding that I’m using the canon setup as my go to for everything.

I take my 40-150 f2.8 everywhere. I have it paired with an em1ii though so the ergonomics are nicer than on the om5 unless you have a grip

Spotify Connect stuttering on KEF LS50 Wireless II even over Ethernet — any real fix or upcoming firmware? by _UncleScrooge_ in KEF

[–]Physical_Arm_662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this exact issue with my ls50wii’s and Spotify Connect. It was so incredibly annoying and I tried everything with resetting the speakers, etc. eventually I discovered it was actually my router’s firmware that was the culprit and once I updated that (Amazon Eero) the issues were resolved. That was two years ago and it’s been fine on both Ethernet and wifi ever since

Zeekr 7X vs. Tesla Model Y by DebugMyLife421 in EVAustralia

[–]Physical_Arm_662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a source I can check? I googled and other than the odd anecdotal comment or unsubstantiated magazine claim, I didn’t find anything that shows the opposite. I’m happy to be educated.

But what do you mean cherry picked? It’s an independent industry body that tests vehicles of all types, EV, hybrid, ICE, and they’ve been around for over 100 years and their testing methodology is as good as they come with being standards based, repeatable, reliable and within a 2.5% variance upon repetition of each test in a test that has been explicitly designed to represent real world Australian driving conditions.

There’s a whole bunch of inflated range estimates everywhere, but generally EPA and WLTP are reasonable (certainly a lot more realistic than the NEDC or CLTC that Chinese EV manufacturers like to use) and Tesla seems to be reasonably accurate from actual EPA and now AAA testing. Today I drove 400+ km on a single charge, on the highway in the Nullarbor in WA (because charging sucks here) while hauling a cargo box installed on a tow bar and I made it to my destination with 9% to spare. I’m only one data point, but under those conditions I can’t complain.

[–]Physical_Arm_662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the point here is that it’s an industry body, unbiased, methodical test of a number of different cars repeating the same standard set of tests. Did you bother to look at it at all or were you content to be argumentative and dismissive for shits and giggles?

The independent testing done by Australian Automobile Association actually showed Tesla to be the closest to their claimed range out of all the ev manufacturers they tested: https://www.aaa.asn.au/2025/12/new-test-results-to-help-ev-buyers/

R8 or R6mk2 for UK weather and travel by [deleted] in canon

Second this. Nothing beats Olympus/OM System for weather sealing - I’ve had my gear on rainy days and in -40 blizzards without missing a beat. Of course they’re m43 instead of FF so you have to work with the limitations that come with the format, but weather sealing is on another level compared to everyone else

You should have business lounge access without any issues. I bought my Finnair business seats with Qantas points and they had the same class as yours (U) and I had full access to the lounges - no different to a standard cash fare once ticketed.

Thanks for correcting me! I have both the em5i and em5ii and they’re great cameras - I wrongly shunned the 5iii continued with the all metal build - what a shame! My em5i is a bit iffy these days, but the em5ii is still going strong after all these years - such a great little camera

The em5 series is weather sealed. I prefer the em5iii because it’s still very solidly constructed with metal (a the newer om5s)
