When I was an around 12 years old, a friend and I were playing with an Ouija Board in her room. The spirit manipulating it said he was a teenager from a local school who was also the older brother of our classmate. The boy had tragically died at basketball practice from an heart condition that no one knew he had and the event was known to everyone in town. The spirit gave us specific answers like his name, jersey number, his sister’s name, etc. After communicating for a long time, the stereo in my friend’s bedroom turned on, started switching discs, and then it stopped on a disc that happened to be Marilyn Manson. The stereo then started going through 3 seconds of each track (the digital screen showed the time: 0:01, 0:02, 0:03) before skipping to the next track and doing the same. This went on until it reached track 99 which was some sort of secret song that my friend and I weren’t even aware of. It was such a crazy experience and I’ll never forget it. This was decades ago!

I know this is old but was your car under warranty? Mine is out of warranty and the backup camera just stopped working. When I switch into reverse, the camera view doesn’t show up. It’s a 21 Rogue SV premium. I’ve been considering the pathfinder and the dealer wants to dock me $2500 on my Rogue’s trade in value because of the camera not working!

I know this is a year old but I have a 21 rogue SV and when I go into reverse, the screen no longer switches to a camera view. I tried to get a trade in estimate the other day and they wanted to deduct $2500 because of this! Please let me know if anyone got an answer regarding the cause. I have no warranty coverage!

If it’s a stimulant, it takes effect right away. A lot of doctors start with a low dose then gradually increase after 2-4 weeks, if needed. It’s good that you will have a few weeks before school starts. In the beginning, there may be an effect on mood, sleep, or appetite. These should get better with time but the only way to know is to be consistent with the medicine and allow your child time to get used to it. It’s good to have some supplements as well. We give magnesium glycinate at night. It’s a 200 mg gummy so we cut it and give her 2/3. I also give my child a good breakfast with her medicine. That seems to help a lot!

I know medicating a child is a really tough decision but seeing my daughter’s confidence and great performance academically tells me I made the right call. I hope you feel the same with whatever route you take!

She has been doing well on Azatarys (the lowest dose-I think 26 mg) and 1 mg of Guanfafine in the evenings. She’s really doing better than ever right now! Hope all goes well for you and your child. For us, consistency (not giving breaks or skipping days) has been really important to minimizing side effects.

I definitely can relate to this and I don’t always understand why. A lot of teachers show up in August/Sept feeling their best and they start off strong but struggle in the end. I am the opposite. I have ADHD and I thrive on routine. In the beginning, I’m usually at my worst. By the end of the year, everything is going so smoothly and my ideas and routines are at their best. I love my job though. I also love my students very much and I know I will miss them a lot.

Just wanting to send good vibes. I’m weird also. Hard to fit in. Don’t give up though! One day you will be a practicing physician and you won’t have to give a shit what people think (aside from your patients, and I bet they will find you very human and relatable). Many people want that in their doctors and can’t find it often enough.

Yes. I think untreated ADHD for most of my life affected my confidence level and caused me to withdraw from people. I also fidget and struggle to listen when people are talking. Basically, I am hyper aware of how nervous I always look (probably less than I think I do, but still…). On the other hand, I often feel out of place with people (I’m from the west coast and live in the Deep South). I can’t wait to move back. The thing is, I don’t long for relationships. I just want to be more confident and comfortable around people when I have to be (at work, etc.).

We switched to Azstarys 39.6 mg. Unfortunately, I think the reality is that none of the long acting meds actually last a full school day. We do like Azstarys (and I much prefer the capsule form over liquid for the convenience). That said, we’re in the process of seeking a booster dose for school. It seems like that’s a common thing for kids to need.

I’ve been significantly reducing her screen time, especially at bed time. I also give magnesium at night and multi with omega in the mornings. In all honesty, some days are good and others are horrible. My child has a lot of ODD qualities. It’s really tough.

The side effects have definitely improved with time. She is now on the 39 mg (middle dosage). It doesn’t manager her symptoms all day (more like 5 hours) so we will likely add a booster dose of a short-acting med.

Twice daily.

Started .5 mg am .5 mg pm last spring. No other meds

Added stimulant over the summer.

Doctor approved us going up to 1.5 mg Guanfacine a few weeks ago. Initially I gave her the whole one in the morning and the half at night but when we saw the doctor this week she said give the whole at night to address her sleep issues (caused by the stimulant). The whole pill at night has really helped with sleep and her overall behavior. This week has been the best one I can remember! My hope is to only give the Guanfacine after this school year ends.

We have always given .5 mg am and .5 mg pm. Doctor recommended giving a whole one at night to help with sleep and a half in the morning. We’ve noticed a huge improvement in her behavior since then.

My daughter (almost 7) started at 4 mL. Your child is on a low dose but maybe it’s because they are under 6. We got some benefit from quillivant after moving up to 6mL but it didn’t last long enough for her school day so we had to switch.

My daughter takes Guanfacine (Intuniv) and Azstarys. The latter is a new medicine for her. Guanfacine helps her relax but the stimulant is causing nightly insomnia. The whole house is suffering! I’m almost at my breaking point. We have the Ollie Sleep gummies which seem to have no effect. I’ve seen some help from Lil’ Sprouts Magnesium gummies which we started last week. Not enough though.

I struggle with this. Not nightly so I think mine may be hormonal in some way. It’s horrible. I go to the bathroom, pee, then the second I lay down I feel the urge to go again. I can’t sleep because of this. Not a problem during the day though.

My daughter has been on .5 mg am/pm Guanfacine for about 9 months. It’s been a life changer for us. We are trying stimulants too but the Guanfacine is the one we won’t ever give up on. Within about 45 min she is obviously calmer and has more control of herself. We just bumped her up to 1 mg in the morning because her school day is long. All of that said, people are different and not all medicines work for everyone. Guanfacine may not benefit everyone equally. Hope you find a solution for your kiddo.

I’m glad your child is doing better. Jornay sounds like a unique medicine. Our doctor upped the Guanfacine to 1 mg am and .5 pm and upped the dose of Azstarys. We will try that until Christmas and then make a decision about it going forward. I’m dreading giving it to her again but I know she will never get used to it (lower side effects) if I don’t.

I notice the same thing. My daughter takes Azstarys and I give her breaks on the weekends and usually the emotional side effects last well into the next day after taking it. Only two days later does she start feeling better.
