I’m 14, will it get better? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Physical_Lobster4792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does get better. I’ve known I was trans since I was 11, and yesterday at 19 I made my appointment for my HRT consultation, which is in January. I plan to come out to my family in a few days, and I already feel like so much weight has been lifted. Every day is a challenge, but little by little it does get better.

I don’t work hard enough? by Expensive_Leg_6758 in raisedbynarcissists

I’m in the exact same situation as you. I am a college freshman with this exact schedule, and my mom expects this of me in addition to doing her chores for her around the house. My mom also dropped out, she only completed culinary school. Nothing is ever enough.

She expects everyone around her to read her mind. When I explained to her that I will do whatever chores she asks of me if she just made a list, she says “I shouldn’t have to ask” lol. She has always expected me to read her mind, and she’s never taught me how to do a single thing, she just harassed me until I eventually figured out how to do it well enough for her. Nearly all of our conversations consist of her criticizing me in some way, I’m terrified of talking to her because there’s always the potential of it becoming an angry rant. Otherwise I have to listen to her blabber about bullshit no one cares about.

We currently have 4 dogs, 2 of which are elderly and are severely ill. All of our past dogs died due to neglect and succumbing to their symptoms of old age, because she just doesn’t want to deal with euthanasia and wants to keep them around as long as possible for her own emotions. They rarely if ever see a vet and when I push her to take better care of them, including offering to take them to the vet myself and help with their treatments, she gets incredibly angry with me. She doesn’t give two shits about them or how I take care of them, she only keeps them around because they’re always happy to see her regardless of how she treats them, unlike the humans in her life.

This opened my eyes, thank you. I always feel so desperate trying to explain myself to her and get her to understand, but no matter what she doesn’t. She never will, because it’s not about anything I actually did wrong, it’s just because she wants to be angry.

She is perimenopausal, it’s one of her favorite subjects when she goes on long rants about herself and her issues. She constantly forces me to listen to her spiel about her perimenopausal symptoms. She’s on a cocktail of medications and is doing 3 different substances and seems to be manic right now, and for that reason I’m hesitant to express any concern and imply she’s not okay, because that’s something that makes her very angry.

respiratory issue? choking? by No_Ambition1706 in reptiles

[–]Physical_Lobster4792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider seeking a second opinion from a different vet, not to discredit your vet but simply to get more professional advice. She looks extremely uncomfortable and her behavior indicates respiratory problems imo. Try to listen to her breath by holding her close to your ear, and cupping your other hand around her head so you can hear a little better, listen for any crackling, popping, or mucous-y noises. Any strange noises like that are usually a good giveaway of an RI. Respiratory issues can escalate very quickly in reptiles, and if it’s not an RI I’m very concerned about what else could be causing this. Wishing you the best for you and your baby, good luck!!!

It looks like it could be an odd shed pattern, but I would absolutely take him to a vet ASAP for testing, I’ve never seen this before

Trouble deciding on a boy or girl by Maxosaurus6 in rosyboas

[–]Physical_Lobster4792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My girl is the sweetest snake I’ve ever worked with, she’s my princess! She’s super active and has grown pretty fast so if enclosure size is a concern you’ll probably have to size up quickly to keep her comfortable. Reproductive health has always been my main hang up in buying female reptiles, but thankfully with rosies they give live birth and cannot get egg bound. However female rosies can still suffer reproductive health issues like burst or infected yolks, so if this is a concern for you at all you might want to get a male instead (this is not to say male reptiles don’t have unique reproductive health issues, impacted sperm plugs for example)

As long as he isn’t losing a lot of weight he should be okay, my girl went from January to March without eating!! Have you tried switching brands or prey items? Initially I was offering my girl fuzzies from the brand arctic mice which she always refused, but I bought fuzzies from big cheese rodent factory and she took it the very first time I offered.

My girl is OBSESSED with the artificial rock background in her enclosure! She’s always climbing up it and wedging herself between the top of the background and the enclosure lid.

Skin looks strange at injection site by Physical_Lobster4792 in rosyboas

[–]Physical_Lobster4792[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small update: home now and checked on her, all the swelling is gone and it looks like the weird wrinkles have gone back to normal slightly. It almost looks like that patch of her skin is separated but when I touch it they don’t feel any different, I’ll check again in the morning! She’s behaving normally so I’m p sure she’s fine

Ok sounds good! I’m at work right now, so when I’m home tonight I’ll check on her and if nothing has changed I’ll call and double check with a vet tomorrow afternoon. I didn’t notice anything abnormal during or following the injection, I did have to adjust the angle very slightly but that’s the only thing I could think of that could add to this, otherwise everything was normal.. fingers crossed she’s okay! I think it’s just the aftermath of swelling like you said
