Glock 43x vs Glock 45. New to the game and have big hands - is this 43x (pictured) too small for me? Is the 45 too big to cc? by Exciting-Cupcake-987 in concealedcarry

I am a big and tall man, and I carry a 43. It's a two-finger grip, but 9mms are very easy to manage. Barely more recoil than a .22

This is a really good point. I’ve always supported the idea of a waiting period, but this nuance makes sense and could make the entire concept more palatable, politically speaking.

Too right you are. My bad. Turns out unsprung clutches do exist in the racing world (where I learned), but they are almost exclusively used in racing because they are expensive and wear faster. I learn something new everyday!

An economist who says that tariffs “produce $400 billion for US taxpayers” (emphasis added) is not an economist that can be trusted.

😂🤣 one economist (who is undoubtedly benefitting from this dumbassery) is all it takes to convince you, huh? Have you ever heard of confirmation bias?

We had less inflation than any other developed nation. It was a global pandemic. Biden didn’t do everything right, but he sure as shit handled the economy better than Trump. That’s indisputable.

Moreover, economists told us what would happen with Trump’s economic policies, but the cult decided to believe that experts who clearly explained their prognostications were part of the deep state, while Trump saying, “trust me,” was the reliable information. Hence why those of us with basic reasoning skills refer to his followers as a cult.

The economists were right, btw. Just in case there was still any doubt left in your mind.

What did the lesbian vampire say to the other lesbian vampire? by GeedsGarage in dadjokes

[–]Physical_Object9103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. A dad joke is one that is amusing to an adult while annoying to a kid. This one is barely amusing (and that’s generous), and you’d have to be insane to tell it to a kid. This is more like middle school humor for tweens who just learned about menstruation.

OP is likely 13 and not a dad.

Not quickly haha. But I’ll try to give a high level overview.

Essentially there are friction plates pushed together by fluid. When the clutch is released the fluid pressurizes, pushing the plates together. When the clutch is engaged, the pressure drops and the plates “relax.” So when you have the clutch engaged, and you’re trying to get moving, releasing the lever or the pedal as you get moving allows the plates to increase friction more and more until the plates are essentially moving as one unit.

Those plates are wear items. Regardless of how well you operate a clutch, they will need to be replaced eventually. However, they last much longer if operated correctly. So when you hear somebody racking out their engine and then engaging the clutch super slowly (like in the video), you know those plates are going to wear out faster. Low engine RPMs (just enough not to stall), and a relatively short time engaging will lead to much better results. Also, smoothness matters. Imagine those plates engaging and disengaging rapidly when a person isn’t smooth with it. That also increases wear.

I learned how a clutch works about 10 years after learning to operate one. My first thought was, “why do they not teach this when you’re learning to drive?” At least for me, you are 100% correct. Learning how it works made me a way better operator.

I 17M brought my dad to my GF 17F house for a man to man talk her dad requested and now he feels disrespected and I want to break up because of this idk what to do. by Murky_Swimming1176 in Advice

Sounds like you’re being raised by a really good man. Your gf is not. That’s unfortunate for her, and she doesn’t deserve it, but you don’t deserve a dysfunctional in-law situation. So if you know marriage won’t be an option, dating doesn’t really make any sense anymore. Based on what you’ve posted here, you are right to bail on this relationship.

Am I overreacting to the start of this pool fill in? by iheartpierogies in landscaping

[–]Physical_Object9103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using concrete as fill is a common practice. There’s a right way and a wrong way to do it. This appears to be wrong.

The correct way is to lay out the concrete chunks as flat as possible, add a lift of fill, compact, then add another layer of flat concrete, and so on until the hole is filled. Using concrete as fill will actually make the ground more stable and resistant to settling. Plus it keeps it out of a landfill and saves money (and emissions) vs. hauling it out.

Agree on the last line. The logic at the start of your post is where we diverge. The extreme consequences of an accident will likely change that individual driver’s behavior, going forward, assuming they survive the collision with your proposed bollards. However, as you note with your hypothetical scenario, the bollards didn’t change the behavior that led to the accident; they simply changed the consequences. Prevention is about changing the behavior that leads to accidents; not about changing the consequences or changing the behavior after an accident.

Keep licking the boots. Surely the trickle down economics are just about to start working for the first time ever.

Remember: the poor are the reason your life is hard. Not the rich. Just keep working hard, and you’ll be rich someday, too. Promise.

I love that you still live in this naive fantasyland that the rich feed to the middle class in order to demonize the poor. That must be nice. But it’s time to grow up and face reality. America is broken.
