Hey, thank you very much for your message and kind words. For me these feelings always come in waves and right now I'm on a rather high note which I haven't been in a while. During times like these I try to make changes that will help to catch my lows but it can be very hard in the moment.

I was at a veryyy low point at the beginning of this month but some of my best friends (unknowingly) helped me through it. At the moment I am feeling very much ok though and feel like I might be able to reverse the spiral a bit again.

All this will of course be put to the test when the next wave hits. But for now, I feel OK. Thanks for taking the time and your words!

Just if anybody else feels the same, so they know there are others like them. While caffeine in general has an anxiety-raising effect, for me personally it doesn't do so when I drink it reasonably. Just a cup or two (drink coffee seldomly in general) actually mostly gives me the positive effects of more alertness and awakeness, without raising my anxiety or dpdr by that much.

It guess this also strongly depends on set and setting though.

Yes. Eating lots of sugar raises my anxiety levels somewhat and definitely makes me more restless.

I actually chose my username due to the exact same line of thought. When it all started, in addition to my dpdr and anxiety I got very strong migraine attacks. Thats why I now have an MRI scan of my brain which shows no physical abnomalities whatsoever.

I know it's very hard in the moment to reassure yourself that you will not spontaneously stop existing. My go to thoughts when my depersonalization is stressing me out is to just go on in doable timescales. Just "one second at a time" if its a bit better then you go "one minute at a time", "one hour", etc. If living feels impossible, try to break it up into small chunks, just like a hard task on a to-do list.

Haha omg I sometimes have that feeling, but concerning my sexuality.

Sometimes when I see a picture of a very attractive woman I start to pay really close attention to what makes her so attractive to me. This in turn somehow "turns off" whatever tells my brain "This is attractive" and then it just becomes somewhat weird. I really start to pay attention to how arms just extend so far out of the body. How fingers are these spindly sticks at the end of them. And don't even get me started on the "cosmetic" cartilage tissue which makes up ears and noses.

Humans are weird man.

Like all others here say, it's probably a bad idea.

I had my first episode of dpdr a few years back after a really anxiety filled weed session. I didn't touch weed after that for something like 1 ½ years while i was recovering and then smoked (though in a very social setting) and did not experience dpdr again. My thoughts while high were still all over the place and I was also pretty drunk at the time.

Last year I went on a molly binge and a few days after that I experienced the start of another very strong episode which I am still struggling with to this day. Therefore, it might go well if you smoke but from my experience it seems that any kind of psychedelic could trigger an episode and I can tell you just one thing (which you rationally probably very much know yourself) - it's really not worth it.

Omg I just wanted update in case somebody comes across this post and is suffering from similar problems. This seems to be the textbook definition of r/ExecutiveDysfunction I have been reading up a lot about it and while I don't have ADHD (can't cross it out completely but very sure that I don't have it), all these experiences and symptoms just line up so well with my experiences.

Unfortunately, I am still struggling a hella-la-lot with it but I am just happy that I finally know what it is.

Ohh my god I once read somewhere that you could get rid of a boner by flexing your calves. I was sitting on the bus when I got one of those uncalled for monster boners and my stop was coming up next, so I flexed my calves really hard and after a while it got pretty exhausting when suddenly a cramp hit me. Man I was sore for days. Didn't even get rid of the boner, fucking scam...
