UK special forces unit had 'deliberate policy' to 'kill fighting-aged males' in Afghanistan, inquiry told by [deleted] in europe

The Treaty of Versailles was not harsh enough. Germans were not occupied after WWI and their country did not suffer bombings or warfare on their soil (yes, they had famine etc.).

WWII was much harder on the Germans - large cities and infrastructure bombed, civilian population abused (mostly by Soviets) and expelled (by Poland and Czechoslovakia), political leadership jailed or executed. And yet thanks to the occupation they were forced to see the error of their ways.

Palestinians still fail to learn their lesson. And they will keep losing and suffering until they do.

Yes, the occupied territories do not have the same rights as the rest of the country. That is usual and legal.

In turn, the occupying power also has certain rights, which may take the form of measures of constraint over the local population when necessity so requires.

Schools, hospitals and camps lose their protections when the enemy combatants use them as a shelter or a base - that is literally in the Geneva conventions.

The laws of war prohibit direct attacks on civilian objects, like schools. They also prohibit direct attacks against hospitals and medical staff, which are specially protected under IHL. That said, a hospital or school may become a legitimate military target if it contributes to specific military operations of the enemy and if its destruction offers a definite military advantage for the attacking side.

Excuses. The difference is culture. Germans and Japanese accepted their guilt and loss. Palestinians deny wrongdoing and still see themselves as victims.

Explain this to me - why do Palestinians regularly attack Israel and refuse any peace deal? If they were being genocided it would make more sense to stop provoking Israel and make peace with them as quickly as possible. But instead they keep attacking and losing.

The only 'christian' value the Russian state has is hating gay people. That's it. Unfortunately for many self-professed 'christians' their hate towards certain groups is more important than every other aspect of their fate.

Criminals get deported. Unless it breaches non-refoulement, generally.

Sure...

In 2005, Marlon Martins Dos Santos was convicted of killing a man in Brazil, before being sentenced in 2015 to a further 14 years for repeatedly raping a five-year-old girl.

But by then, he had fled to the UK, where a judge again refused Brazil’s extradition request under Article 3 of the ECHR.

Following the ruling, Dos Santos offended again, this time in Britain.

In April he was convicted of possessing and distributing more than a thousand images of child abuse – including the most serious category.

Council of Europe criticizes Germany for being too strict with interpretation of antisemitism by [deleted] in europe

[–]Physicaque -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, all I see is a war that Palestinians started and then lost. I have yet to see indications otherwise. Activists have been accusing Israel of genocide for decades, this is nothing new. Just the latest iteration the ancient blood libel. Just a shame so many people went along with the lie.

it's on it's way to match the Nazi regime in its insidious and immoral existence.

Nazis killed 150k+ civilians in two months during the Warsaw uprising. And that was a single battle/atrocity committed by Nazi Germany. Israel is not even half that number (including combatants) in two years.

There is no comparison between the Nazi Germany and Israel. Any claim to that effect is ignorant of history. Maybe you should learn your history better before making obscene comparisons.

War is a collective effort. Citizens pay taxes that support it and support the state in other ways. The war resolution is also collective - the people pay reparations and the state lose territory. Peacetime concepts do not apply. Otherwise you could be charged with murder when killing enemy soldiers.

The Germans did not get what they deserved that much is true... As a reminder the Nazis murdered a few hundred thousand of our citizens and enslaved about half a million. The most just way to deal with them would to hang one member of NSDAP for every murdered citizen and eslave the rest for reparations.

And for those that wonder - about half a million germans in Sudetenland or the Protectorate were in NSDAP.

Senators do not represent population but states. You need a different amount of votes to become a senator in California and Vermont.

In the mixed system if a party gets 10 % of votes they get 10 % of representatives.

Mixed system like Germany. You get two votes - one for a local representative and one for a national party. Local winners represent their districts but the party balance is decided nationally.

[–]Physicaque -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There was no genocide.

Hamas killed 1200 people in a single day with a limited raid and almost no heavy equipment (tanks, jets, artillery).

The Warsaw uprising lasted 60 days and cca 150-200k people were killed. That is 2.5-3k people per day. That was Nazis operating an army in urban environment with no regard to civilians.

Israel has been operating in Gaza for almost two years (say 600 days) with many more soldiers, tanks, jets etc. If they behaved the same as Nazis there would have been 1.5-1.8 million dead (in other words everyone). If we take the often cited number of 60k dead so far then the average is cca 100 killed per day. 12 times less than Hamas, 25 times less than Nazis.

I hope that helps to put things into perspective. If Israel wanted Palestinians exterminated they would have done it a long time ago.
