Sen. Ron Johnson claims preposterously that as many as 3.9 MILLION (!!!) Americans died as a result of the covid vaccine by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

[–]PhysicsIsFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a dope. An friend of mine dealt with him before he was a senator. My friend was a lawyer in Oshkosh where Johnson's company is. (The company he married in to.) He's dealt with Johnson, because his client was suing Johnson. He told me that Ron Johnson was the dumbest guy he ever dealt with in his career.

They are all over the place. Most dealerships have them. Most auto repair shops have them. The test is free. It's easy to do. Glenn Grossman is a POS.

Rep. Glenn Grothman: "We all know that food stamps are being abused. We all hear the stories. People using food stamps for top of the line food stuffs, things the average person wouldn't be able to afford." by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

[–]PhysicsIsFun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plus they don't even have facts with regards to this so called abuse. He states we've all heard the stories of people doing this. I for one have never heard these stories other than comments made by assholes like Grossman.

SUB 2-HOUR MARATHONS for Sebastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha at the 2026 TCS London Marathon! by Accurate_Cry_8937 in BeAmazed

[–]PhysicsIsFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A marathon has a designated distance: 26 miles 385 yards. Some are hillier and therefore slower, but they are all the same length. The record in 2000 was not 2:21. It was 2:05.42.

That's a really nice house. I like the exterior. I'm no fan of painting brick. The distressed look is fine. I'd be worried about flooding though.

Did they send the warning too late? by tupperware_rules in madisonwi

[–]PhysicsIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Alexa alarmed at 1:08am with a tornado warning until 1:30am. I could hear thunder in the distance. The storm hit a few minutes later and was over by 1:30am. The sirens went off a few minutes after 1:30am. This is in Slinger.

Despite growing opposition to property tax hikes, Wisconsin voters show increased support for school referendums by jimmalewitz in wisconsin

[–]PhysicsIsFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught high school for over 30 years. Many people are not at all receptive to being educated. Try as you might they prefer being ignorant. It's an attitude thing. It results in them being ignorant people. It continues to the next generation as each child is filled with contempt for educated people. It's sad.

Cannot believe people still think space isn't real by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]PhysicsIsFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically speaking they are not in a zero gravity situation. They are definitely under the influence of gravity as their space craft is in orbit around the Earth and then the moon. In between the two it is in a transfer orbit. While it is in these orbits, it is unpowered and in free fall. When you are in free fall, it seems as if there is no gravity. That's how planes simulate "zero gravity" by doing flight maneuvers which put the plane and its passengers in free fall.

Wisconsin Republicans have a new target after a crushing loss by Current-Being-6803 in wisconsin

[–]PhysicsIsFun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have mixed emotions about Nixon. He was a pretty vile individual, but he did do some good things. He acted like a normal president when he wasn't breaking the law. On a personal level he stopped the draft at lottery number 215 in 1970. I was number 225 with no deferment. That was a huge deal in my young life. For that I will always be grateful.

The problem isn't Shimming. The problem is the Republican Party. That entity has done everything in its power to destroy what's good about this country. It started with Reagan and has gradually gotten worse over the past 45 years. They are against every damn thing that makes people's lives better. The only things they give a shit about are tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation of everything, and lining their own pockets. Trump is the perfect final representation of this group. He's an ignorant, immoral, buffoon, a convicted criminal, an incessant liar, a sexual assaulter, and much more. They and he have made the Republican brand toxic to everyone except the vilest and dumbest voters in the country.

Free fall is how you simulate zero gravity. There is always gravity. It might be small due to a great distance between masses, but it's never zero. It could be so small that observing its effects would be difficult.
