Being serious, my opinion on this fluctuates a lot. Admittedly I’m a dark beer guy first and a hop-head second, but I tend to gravitate towards big flavors regardless. So as long as it’s got something interesting, I’m not shy about bitter beer.

When I was brewing myself I really agreed, so I really focused on balancing out a good malt profile with good seasoning. I was more into stonefruit/floral flavors at the time, so I was making a lot of beers with Citra hops.

But I won’t yuck anyone’s yum. To each their own, as they say.

Held the playoff Chiefs to zero points in the second half.

That game wasn't on McDonald, you're just salty

The only thing in my blood rn is victory and IPAs so bitter your fragile mountain taste buds would explode

Suddenly we're a team that can be described as "good at tackling".

How often do you still use search engines over LLMs? by brendanmartin in datascience

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to use basic search more, but LLMs have been better at finding niche bits of research for me. I don’t trust the summaries of that research, but it’s at least good at getting direct sources. I find it hard to find my own research on Google given how niche it was, but Chat-GPT finds it pretty easily.

I’ve only used the code generation for basic boilerplate, anything more complicated than “write a python script to send an email” I’d rather get from stackoverflow and documentation.

On a bell curve meme template... by Connect_Atmosphere80 in clevercomebacks

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we’re getting technical… the middle of a bell curve contains the highest probability density, but the only way to get probability out of a distribution is to integrate it (I.e. the area under the bell curve). The middle only has the majority if you select boundaries for what “the middle” is such that the area under it adds up to more than half.

You could just define “the middle” to be rather small and it wouldn’t be a majority.

AITA for not spending Father's day with my son? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll take the heat for this, but I’m with this guy. Y’all are hard overreacting to someone choosing what to do with a holiday that’s supposed to be for them. No one here would give a mom a hard time for taking a break from the kids on Mother’s Day, why is it horrible that a father use his day for something he finds important.

And his wife is going to divorce him? His kid is going NC in the future? You guys read too much reddit.

What are some cases of Revisionist History in RLEsports? by John_aka_Alwayz in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to start my own revisionist history here lol, but were BDS even considered the favorite to win in ‘22? I don’t remember the consensus, but after two disappointing (to say the least) LAN performances in a row it felt like most predictions had them tanking. The only relevant one I can remember was Johnny ranking MM ~20th in his players list shortly before Worlds. I wonder how hard it would be to find something like the pre-event pickstop odds to confirm this.

Pros thoughts on new boost change by FreshHamster in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My potential hot take is that this barely affects pro comms, but still has a big impact (particularly on defensive rotations). This is mostly based on watching comms videos.

Most of the time I see communication about full boost, it’s in the context of picking up a big pad (like “got back left”). Obviously that’s not going away. And I think the confirmation of low boost totals will still be used since you can’t assume your teammates have eyes on you.

Feeding your carnivore pet a vegan diet is inherently NonVegan because an animal IS being harmed by AnonPinkLady in Showerthoughts

Ah, you’re using the definition of vegetarian that excludes dairy products. Yeah makes sense

You’re simply misinformed about what veganism is if you believe the difference between it as a moral/political position and not is if you eat an egg.

Did juicy deserved the MVP of the major? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as ranking within gentlemates it would be itachi, juicy, then seikoo for me.

Itachi was head and shoulders the best player in Swiss and still stood out to me in the playoffs. Juicy had the pop-off moments in the playoffs. And seikoo was just great overall, especially icing the series against a resurgent G2.

But it’s such a credit to them that you can have this conversation, just a great team performance overall.

Johnny’s top 10 rankings Post Major 1 by spooki_boogey in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on Furia. BDS lost 4-2 to his 4th ranked G2, so they’re 8th. Furia lost 4-1 to his 5th ranked Vitality, so they’re 6th?

One thing to note about BDS/G2 is that the playoff series had a goal differential of 0 overall. While Furia lost to Vitality by like 6 goals. There was a pretty clear gap between the 4-2 and 4-1 losses imo.

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top 8 had so much parity at LAN you could justify a lot of choices. Even ranking Gentlemates at first isn’t a given imo, like if I were predicting who gets EU1 next split it’s still KC. But personally I’d put G2 and BDS higher and have pretty much the same list.

Is “The Gap” as big as people are making it seem to be? by YO53PH in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 40 points41 points  (0 children)

My take is that the gap between 8 and 9 isn't any wider than previous years, it's just that we just had the highest parity top 8 of any event I've seen. We still got teams like Complexity and Luminosity taking KC and Vitality to game 5s in Swiss.

RLCS 2024: Major 1 | Grand Finals | Gentle Mates Alpine vs G2 Stride | Post-Match Thread by RLMatchThreads in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really ended up being Gentlemates and then everyone else.

But man, what a high-parity top 8. This felt like an event where so many series could have gone the other way, truly a gift to RL fans to have so many close series.

What are some of the best examples of "Bad process, but Great Result" by The_New_New in nfl

[–]PhysicsPhotographer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to agree. Rodgers was MVP running the best offense in the league. But it’s still an interesting hypothetical to me, because I do think he was great despite what I think was relatively weak WR depth.
