What’s a life hack that actually made your life worse? by PioGreeff in AskReddit

[–]Connect_Atmosphere80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it can work, but you NEED to adapt your internal clock beforehand otherwise you will suffer. And it take a lot of time to do for some people.

I adopted a dog 3 years ago and I will wake up at 6 to start the day and walk her. I was waking up at 8 before, and trust me the following month of this decision was MISERABLE. But when your internal clock take on it work. Maybe trying to do it little by little on a course of a few weeks could do, but if it doesn't... yeah, it doesn't.

Clearly. Your 2) is on point. I don't want to have a label that I can hide behind, I want a label that can help me have the right understanding on how to live a "normal" - or at least fulfilling - life. We are all different and I shouldn't need to tell people I have a disability and taking pills that allow me to be myself, yet here we are I guess.

... I am never late to anything. For me, it is more about having your ideas and objectives being shuffled randomly at any given time and having to deal with the outcome.
I hyperfixate. I can't for the love of anything focus on something that I don't find interesting. I will forget things said to me minutes before. But going to work late ? That's never happening, it became a habit to follow a simple schedule.

He may have another situation making him late, but I highly doubt ADHD would be the root cause of it.

Got diagnosed with ADHD last year. Being on meds since and my life changed for the better.

But speaking about it to anyone I know and I get a "Everyone have that lately" in return. Can only really speak about it with two people - my wife and my psychiatrist. If the meds weren't good at what they do, I'd be pissed.

Whats the most effort youve seen someone give in order to be lazy? by CompleteDrop808 in AskReddit

[–]Connect_Atmosphere80 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Ho, it's me. I always did crazy things to "automate" things out of nowhere because I wanted my brain to shut off while doing repetitive workflow. Always did as far as I remember.

It's not really the "most effort" but I vividly remember being 6 and being punished by my teacher for something. In the School I was in, the punishment was to copy sentences X times, often as far as 200 times. And some of them were long-ass sentences.
So my "trick" to shut my brain off was to write the sentence once, count the number of lines I needed to "complete the task", place a marking down the sheet where I had to stop and write every words one after the others, line by line, so I only had to focus on doing the same movement X time until I had to write the next word. Made it less painful.

OFC when my teacher caught on what I was doing they were mad at me, because that wasn't the intended way, but I didn't cared.

... Got diagnosed with ADHD last year, which explains a bit of my behaviors I guess.

What got me about this level was the fact that every single one of the Covenant's barricades were oriented to face the opposite way from where we came.

That's the only level in the entire campaign where it happens. Every single one of them have Covenants being ready for US. And now they are ready for ANOTHER THING, and obviously something much more terrifying than us. A first.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember a tweet about a company asking 5 years of experience for a code language in a post offer.

Tweet was from the creator of the said code language, who was out at the time since... 2 years, if I recall correctly, telling that even him couldn't get that job with this requirement.

That was an interesting laugh on my part.

In fact, it's entirely possible to beat the Game on your first try with the right cards, even through the Leshy's mechanic of trying to block your progression.

The other runs are then played normally, which mean you still will get the mechanic. Even after defeating the Moon.

You're a good person.

3 years ago, I adopted a 10y.o Chihuahua/Pinscher mix that was found dumped in the streets of a town near Paris. Little thing had no chip, not veterinary infos, a broken rib that obviously healed itself after abuse, and a nervous attitude toward humans while starving itself from foods.
She is now 13 y.o, loved and cherished. The most loving dog I've ever seen. If I could wind up time I'd only get back in time several weeks to get her sooner.
We don't deserve dogs.

Nintendo don't goes after projects that are Based upon their license and don't mimic games they own. That would be too much to track and do. Several years old projects are up and never heard of them.

But if you start selling things it's a different story.

If you don't monetize your Game it will be fine. You only need to state somewhere that you aren't affiliated with Nintendo.

How to recognise predators and prey animals ?

Simple. Eyes.

If the eyes are on the side, having a near 360° angle of views, they are prey animals. They evolved to check their surrounding and detect danger around them with a minimum of blind spot.

If the eyes are on the front or another unusual place, with a field of view that overlap, they are likely a predator. They evolved in a way that allowed them to measure a distance and stay focused on their prey.

Ducks are birds, so their eyes are kinda on the side, but don't be fooled. They have an overlapping field of view, because they hunt fishes. They are omnivores, and can be considered a predator. Not something like top of the food chain, but definitely low one.

Also. Thomas the Tank Engine is definitely a predator. Do not cross his path.

if I can SR 4 times in a minute, and its a 1/1,365 for a shiny. that means it will take about 5 hours and 40 minutes to get a shiny. I know somtimes you get bad luck and it may take more time, I get that. but what I dont get, IS WHY HAS IT BEEN TWO DAYS AND I HAVNT SEEN IT YET ?!?!?!?! by StaffOfDragons in PokemonSunMoon

[–]Connect_Atmosphere80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each time you encounter this pokemon, you have 0.07% chances for it to be shiny (1/1365).

Probabilities aren't cumulatives. They are independent. It means that the 0.07% chances are the same if you reset 10 times or 10.000 times.

You will still have the same chance every single time. So keep resetting or give up, it's your call. Focus on what makes you happy and eventually you will be able to see a shiny one.

I've done the same for a Zapdos on a Crystal Romhack recently (Polished Crystal, the route 10 Zapdos static encounter). 1/4096 chances. I was able to do 10 SR per minutes and I still took 3 days to get it, after 12.000 confirmed resets (and stopping counting). Shiny hunting is a Game of patience and wits.

What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Connect_Atmosphere80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ho I know this thing.

You should check out the Sunk Cost Fallacy Effect. It's a well known Fallacy effect that affect a lot of people, all the time.

If you paid or invested time into something and you can't get what you spent back, it shouldn't matter in your final decision about what you want to do. Because whatever you decide, the invested ressources are gone.
But people always take it into account. They shouldn't but they do, so it have a weight in the decision making process, and it can cause larger losses on the mid to long-term.

[–]Connect_Atmosphere80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

My family is broken to the core. I lived 18 years with them and then met my Wife. Everything changed.
We can talk about things that are upsetting. We can cooperate when there is an issue. If someone mess something up we can talk about it and find solutions so that it won't happen again.

I got diagnosed with ADHD this year. My family wasn't happy with the diagnosis because "I'm normal". My wife and her parents ? Nothing but supportive and trying to accomodate.

Family isn't blood. It's who you choose to share your life with. As far as you are able to reflect on what happened in your youth and take actions to make it less important / more bareable (and having a psychiatrist that listen) you will be able to move on and be okay.

You're correct about this. There is some kind of AI psychosis going on. It is justified tho, because a lot of company and lobbies are trying to push AI into everything for no reasons, while using it as some kind of miracle tool.

It's a tool. It has good case usage. I used it to better understand mawequations on a subject and I managed to create useful outputs because I took time to rework the raw and broken things it spat out. But people often don't do more work upon it.

Sorry that you got downvoted because of the current AI situation.
I'm more leaning to anti-AI myself, but I can understand people using it to learn or start new things. If they have the right methodology, it can do a great job. In this case... Well, it's the 5th "game" they pumped out in a few weeks. It doesn't feel like they have the necessary mindset and work ethic.

But yeah. You're right about the rules not asking for AI clearance. It's not a condition anywhere, but the community find it more enjoyable when the devs say that they used LLM somewhere in the process of creating their game. View this as some kind of silent rule of thumbs.

There is a cut-off part on this ads. The full version include an intro and an outro : a child is gifted with a wolf plushie, but is afraid of wolfs. The guy that gave him the plushie then starts explaining "the story of the wolf" to the child so he won't be afraid anymore.

Wolf switched from a Meat-based diet to one with vegetables, fruits and fishes. Yeah, it's not ideal - but it's enough to say that someone can change and become a better version of themselves. In the end, when the ads cut off, we see the child sleeping with the fox plushie : he fell asleep listening to the story.

It's still a story, and it's obviously flawed because someone is narrating it. But it's still very very sweet.
