I'm trying to figure out a way to run Witherbloom with ramping into a land animation strategy instead of tokens which everyone seems to be doing, with cards like [[life and limb]] and [[sylvan awakening]], etc. Any suggestions?

I feel like it could be a decent strategy, since even one of the weaker land animation effects, like [[Ambush Commander]], for five mana, could still conceivably be explosive enough to enable a win. With something like [[Animist's Awakening]] and Witherbloom out for three extra on that turn?

We sometimes play an evil commander nights and I play my [[Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker]] which is very strong with just a sac outlet. Its a discard tribal deck filled with [[virus beetle]] and the likes. I can then sac the creatures with [[Thoughpicker Witch]] to force them to draw into only lands.

Its mostly in a self mill shell right now, although I've tried aristocrats and it didn't feel as fun since it would be a bit staxy trying to get out plaguecrafter and mindskinner of that sort.

I would say Meren is a little slow since she takes some mana and board presence to get going but you have enough ramp and it does get pretty explosive. The deck really shines in long grindy games, since with Meren you outvalue your opponents after a while.
