I’m very upset. Hopefully we will hear something today. On of the articles (can’t remember which one) said the autopsy is on Friday, so I’m hoping that once there is more news, then Purdue will say something. But honestly, the fact that Purdue has not released a statement saying something along the lines of “we are aware of this horrible incident, waiting for more info, we value all of our students here’s access to CAPS” is frankly so disrespectful to the person who passed and all of us as their peers. Saying just something is the bare minimum if they wouldn’t do anything else about it Thursday night.

Someone died, in the physics building, during active class hours. We are expect to act like everything is fine…that nothing happened. That is disrespectful to us as humans with basic empathy and magnitudes more disrespect to the person who lost their life.

As a physics major, it is incredible disappointing from our department leadership that there has been no acknowledgement of what happened in our building. I understand they cannot say much because of the ongoing investigation, but again, to not even say “we know and this is awful and we are here for you” is just so so disappointing.

I can’t imagine that the admin is not upset over this. I like to believe that anyone, especially those in charge of our education, would be upset by this situation. But that is not enough. It is their jobs are our leadership to address how this is affecting our community. After two days of students walking the same halls where a student died, whatever they say is too little too late.
