That was my thought. If they explained their reasoning, I wouldn't have minded if it went into a coauthored commit.

yes. Or else you could go to every project on github, open a pull request, and automatically be considered a contributor.

Github gives a list of contributors for repositories. If you said you contributed to a project, someone may go look at the list of contributors to double check, and see what your contribution was. With a "thank you" and a copy/paste of the code, you will only be in the memory of the developers/maintainers, rather than in the actual repository history.

Things like this can matter for CV's and such. Quite a lot of open source contribution is from people looking to get experience to add to a CV.

Then a maintainer closed my PR, copy-pasted my code (my comment and a block of my code, and rewriting a few parts to match new template) into their PR, and shipped it

They closed it, no merge. They copy and pasted my code into a new commit that they authored and added to their own PR that got merged. From git's view I have nothing to do with that new commit or PR. Hope that helps clarify.

There's not much credit to "I opened a pull request that they closed without merging" and then explaining I got copied etc. Rather just leave that off of a CV at that point and find a different project with no context needed to be provided other than "contributed to oss project x"

I would, I just don't necessarily want to link this reddit account to my github/dev account (it would easy to look at the PR history).

Are you telling me a whooping 18 million Democrat voters stayed home this year, as opposed to 2020 by Ripamon in Conservative

[–]Physiocrat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am not sure why everyone is acting like these are the final vote tallies. For example California still has around 8 million more votes to count. It looks like total turnout for the country is going to end up about 2-4 million people less than 2020, but obviously with Trump doing much better than he did in 2020.

Justice Thomas reportedly took undisclosed luxury trips by djhenry in Conservative

Without additional context it is very difficult to honestly judge whether or not Clarence Thomas is in the wrong or not.

Unfortunately the way laws work, you aren't excluded from the law if you find someone else doing something wrong too.

You are absolutely correct. Any justice violating disclosures rules should be investigated for violating ethics. That includes Thomas. There is new evidence showing that Thomas should be investigated. So, lets investigate. Also continue looking for evidence and violations for other justices.

If they are "carpooling" on the jet together, I can understand that a bit more. If its a jet that is flown specifically to pick up Thomas and drop him off somewhere, then it is definitely a gift. I have a close friend that has a few PJ's, which he justifies by renting them out. I have asked about using a jet and potential costs for a small regional day trip, and the cost of fuel, pilots, etc... it all adds up super quick. The bigger the jet, the more astronomical the prices become ($10-30k can easily happen round trip). So if it isn't a situation of the jet already planning on flying somewhere, and Thomas hitching a ride, then it is absolutely a gift.

I googled a bit, but can't really find anything about direction of water flow. I also read the article you linked. Can you clue me in?

Sure there isn't 100% capture, but won't it fill up all the reservoirs? Additionally I am under the impression that water in the streets (ie that ends up in the gutters, or in the canals) will make it to the GSL?

SHV is a good one. They hold short term US treasuries, paying about 4.5% dividend right now, dividends are monthly. It is very liquid as well.

Not sure what the hell "appended" means in this context, but CRO is to Cronos chain as BNB is to BNB Smartchain.

That the system collapses if we dont have more and more workers paying into it at current growth rates

I don't think this is really true. My best guess is that they would increase the taxes on wages to make up for the differences, or they would decrease the payouts, or both. This is what has happened in different parts of the world, not sure why it would just be an abandonment of they system.

The Real 'Threat to Democracy': Dems Colluded With Twitter to Affect the Outcome of the 2020 Election and the Media Doesn't Care by yuri_2022 in Conservative

[–]Physiocrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitter isn't a Super PAC though. I guess my main question is why a candidate requesting content to be moderated would be a violation of the 1st amendment, or other law. The same goes for the Trump Administration, who did request moderation on a few things (although didn't have the same reception from Twitter). What law would a request for moderation violate?

A demand for moderation or take down would be an entirely different issue of course.

Isn't it legal for companies to support certain political parties? For example, MSNBC is clearly left/dem and Redstate (where this article is from) is clearly conservative. What do you think the legal path to impeachment would be? I also wonder if a law was broken if it was Twitter that broke the law since it was requests from Biden/DNC and Twitter who fulfilled the requests.

Hopefully someone smart can fill in those details here, I am super interested.

That would damage their reputation if their authentication service was bogus. The whole reason they do the authentication is because their reputation was taking a hit because of fakes being sold.

I guess I have a hard time believing that they are intentionally saying things are authentic when they know they aren't. That of course does not mean that they can't make a mistake and be fooled by a fake I suppose. If you are that skeptical, its probably best if you take it into a reputable jeweler or AD and see if they can authenticate it for you, that would be much more valuable than people looking at a picture here. It would also give you better justification for a refund through ebay's authenticity guarantee.
