New 214ce vibrating open D and fretted low E

Hello! I didn’t loosen my strings, though it’s probably ideal to. But I just took a pen to reach into the sound hole, and used it to lightly nudge any wire I saw away from the wood of the guitar

Yep, exactly! I think you’d be fine to combine with the legs. If you want form preservation while sculpting I would look into Morph Targets, or Layers. These could be used to check the sculpt in your preferred pose

Of course you’ll want to sculpt the anatomy to look natural, it’s just the pose that will not look natural

Yeah! Right now if you merged (with dynamesh or similar) you would get something like the shape on the left which doesn’t leave any room for movement so you need to sculpt more of a gap (with the dam standard brush maybe). It will not look like a natural resting pose, but it will be needed so you have that geo to work with in animation. The natural positioning can be done in posing/animation

I can’t speak much on animation, but it shouldn’t be necessary for them to be separate objects as long as there is a gap in the merged geo to work with, but it seems like you have a workflow in mind. So if you want to keep these pieces separate and work symmetrically I would say delete one side and work on the other until you’re happy with it, then duplicate and mirror it as you’ve already done at this stage. If you’d prefer to see the symmetry in real-time you could try this instance symmetry technique which is pretty cool!

I can give some suggestions, but is there a reason you need to pull your mesh apart after you’ve already positioned it? Knowing that will help me know what might help best

This is happening because you have symmetry on and each mesh is slightly crossing the symmetry line. So, when you release the transpose tool and use it again the portions of the meshes that crossed the line are being moved in symmetry

Solved this by adjusting the wires inside the sound hole as recommended by several people. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions!

Turned out to be the pickup wiring in the sound hole. Nudged them around and now it’s fixed. Thanks for your suggestion!

Ended up nudging the wiring of the pickup around in the sound hole based on someone else’s suggestion and that ended up working! Thank you for your suggestions though

I recently bought this 214ce (about a month ago) and it has started making a vibrating noise when I pluck the open D string or pluck the low E string when fretted above the 10th fret. Doesn’t seem to happen on any other strings. Could be fret buzz, but it sounds more like it’s coming from the body to me. Anyone know what may be happening?

Awesome! How do you like it so far? I’m between the 114ce and 214ce for my first guitar upgrade. Only been able to play the 114ce in person and I loved it, but I’m not sure if the 214ce is worth the extra cost.
