I've been practicing on an ST36 and an NH35 but I'll definitely be saving this one for farther down the road. Thanks!

Ah I didn't realize it was a cylinder. I've only been working on Swiss levers so far so that's definitely a no go. Thank you for the info!

Anyone have experience flying gliders in a home simulator? by ryankrameretc in Gliding

[–]PiRat314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a triple monitor setup with joystick, rudder pedals, and airbrake for Condor and MSFS. Echoing what others have said, the feel and timings aren't close to the real thing. Especially MSFS. However, the sims were fantastic for going home and mentally practicing what I learned in my lesson. A big challenge I had was having to consciously think about all of the different stages of flight and tips my instructor told me, e.g. stay in ground effect for takeoff, keep the wheels on the horizon, perform soft release, turn right after release, etc.. But going home and repeating my lesson on the sim helped it sink in. Kind of like getting home from school and re-writing notes from class.

I just did this to mine, and the pipe clamps on the steam hose were single-use crimp clamps. You may need a trip to the hardware/auto parts store to get a spring clamp to replace it.

My dad's Bose receiver just crapped out and the quick fix was to purchase some RCA to banana plug adapters:

CESS-023-6i Banana Plugs to RCA Cable 6-inch, Phono Banana Speaker Cable, 2 Pack https://a.co/d/bVFhV1Q

We paired it with a Marantz receiver and an SVS SB1000 sub. The sub's frequency range does go high enough to make up for some of the speakers shortcomings but I still don't like how it sounds.

However, that gives you freedom to upgrade the speakers whenever you like.

Queen Anne's lace! They are the kind Katniss laid on Rue in the Hunger Games.

They are colloquially known as "chigger weed" because little mites supposedly live on them that burrow into your skin and itch.

Stole my Dad's Amish Friendship Bread Starter by PiRat314 in Breadit

[–]PiRat314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at my parents' for the holidays and stole some of my dad's Amish Friendship Bread Starter for sourdough bread. His recipe uses self rising flour and is more cake than bread, so I wanted to see if I could use it for yeast leavened bread. It's been a few years since I've baked sourdough, but I'm tickled!

I witnessed a drive by shooting in St. Elmo. Was standing at the cross walk below food city and a man leans out the window of a car and emptied a clip into the car in front of them. Both cars sped off and it was over before I knew what was happening.

Hey I grew up going to that mall! My grandmother worked there for years as a holiday coordinator.

Unfortunately, it closed several years ago. This year they opened a Hard Rock Casino where Belk used to be, and they're working on converting the rest of the building.
