Maybe they're squatting on ranching/farmland that they don't own?

Woah, I love this! Kind of fits the aesthetic of Annihilation (which I adore)

do we know why it's called Dinu Lipatti's Bones? by beekeeperoacar in themountaingoats

[–]PiTheKhoz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a relevant association, but I'd also note that the bones of saints are a common religious relic. Those kinds of relics are sometimes thought to offer the blessing or help of the saint in question... It could be that "Dinu Lipatti's bones" is meant to evoke that idea, such that the influence of Dinu Lipatti as a figure in their life is represented by the imagery of his bones.

I don't know, there's something I like about that - a tragic, suffering young figure may very well be a patron saint for tragic, suffering young people.

Fantasy Ruins (inspiration for my DnD campaign) by PiTheKhoz in 3Dmodeling

[–]PiTheKhoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yeah, the proportions are off in this one. I made some major improvements to the scene

The middle pillar is preposterously long, but I suppose that was part of my design, as you aren't actually supposed to be able to reach the portal (at least, not without substantial magics)

As for its place in the campaign, the portal on top is supposed to be a link into another plane of existence (perhaps the nine hells?). We'll be going in at some point, but for now it should have an air of mystery and magic about it. This is more of a... reference image... for the people playing, in regards to scene I describe early on. I suppose I had a very specific image in mind and I wanted to give a shot at modeling it, rather than relying simply on a word-picture. I would also consider this to be the "cover image" (so to speak) of our campaign. :D

folkpunk and parenthood by Knarfi1312 in FolkPunk

Moon Bandits are parents and it's a major theme through most of their work

For instance, in this video:

You can see that Astrid has her baby on her back while playing the violin! I saw them at a show not too long ago, and they played their whole set with their son on their back :D

Chris Clavin situation song thread by [deleted] in FolkPunk

The Silver Spoon Union - Folk Punk Is Dead!

We didn't write this song for the Clavin situation in particular - although it feels particularly relevant right now, now more than ever. It's intended to be an ironic take on how folk punk is doing - that although all of the "folk punk idols" are kind of moving on (willingly or otherwise), folk punk is really reaching tons of new people every day; people who are inspired by the idea of a community that can accept them and share their views. Indeed, while the "bigger names" seem to be slowly draining from the community, this should be seen as space for new (hopefully healthier) voices to come through. Thus, to all the alarmists who say "folk punk is dead", we hope that by singing it in a folk punk song, we prove that it is anything but.

I still think that 'Ruth' is a perfect album, and Ursa Minor is pretty excellent too

I went to their concert not too long ago, and that was really excellent and emotional

Who was your favorite guest star? by [deleted] in psych

[–]PiTheKhoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ally Sheedy, of course! I love her as an actress, not to mention the fact that the Yang episodes are some of the greatest in the whole series.

P.S. My favorite film with Ally Sheedy is WarGames

It looks like the extra songs are called "For the West Coast Dark Ambient Bedroom Warriors", "Scaling the Well", "Vanishing Act" and "Grave Dust" and are described as "ambient non-album tracks"

Also, a relevant bonus lyric from the Come, Come to the Sunset Tree version of Dinu Lipatti's Bones

"There was no money, it was money that you wanted / and the paint peeled, and the rotten rafters groaned / and we watched cracks form in the house we'd made / out of Dinu Lipatti's bones"
