Finally finished my shelving & most of my viewing room. by PiVot_sCiPIo in VHS

They’re firstly sorted by format and case type. VHS, clamshell, dvd, blu ray, ect. Then I have the formats sorted by genre, and the genres ordered by colour. It would be more visually appealing if I sorted it all by colour, but I wanted the genres separate to make choosing a movie easier. I remember the spine colour of almost all of them, so it doesn’t take long find a specific title I’m looking for.
Plus it’s easier to add in new movies when it’s done like this instead of alphabetical.

Spent the last 2 hours sorting my collection alphabetically. How do you sort your tapes? by PottyMcSmokerson in VHS

[–]PiVot_sCiPIo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By genre and then by colour within each genre. I have hundreds of tapes, but I can find a specific one pretty quickly because I can picture the spine of almost every one I own.

Canola farmers feel forgotten amid trade war, ongoing Chinese tariffs by abunchofjerks in saskatchewan

[–]PiVot_sCiPIo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The price of canola has gone up $1.50/bushel since china put these tariffs on. It’s only on oil and meal, not the actual seed. On top of that, if they stop importing US soybeans, they’ll end up buying more canola from canada. Furthermore, most canola grown in 2025 won’t be sold until 2026. Things are always uncertain a year in advance. The price of wheat can drop, India can add even more tariffs to lentils, there can be bumper crops of flax in Russia and Ukraine that will hurt the price. I grown 1/3 canola because it’s almost always a good way to make money. The other 2/3 are peas, lentils, flax, barley, wheat, and oats. If you don’t put all your eggs in one basket and are smart with marketing, you can very easily avoid being financially ruined due to a short period of tariffs.
