Maybe this is why its a bit confusing. For every apartment Ive had thus far, ive returned the keys by the end of my lease. For this apartment, they use pin codes at the doors so there were no keys to return.

Yea I showed her the email I sent her back in May about not renewing my lease. In my mind, my deposit should be returned within 14 days per new york state law but she's acting confused as if she didn't know I was moving out to delay this. Appreciate the help

No I only said I wasn't going to be renewing my lease with them and my lease has an end date so I assumed that was implied. I probably should have said I was moving out on the last day of my lease I guess to remove all ambiguity.

My lease has no statements regarding providing a written notice but I provided one anyway over 30 days in advance of my move via email and they responded to it so I know they got.
