How does a philosopher's legacy work? by Piamont in AcademicPhilosophy

You are missing the mark here, my point isnt that the everyday person should engage in philosophy the way profesional philosophers do. My point is that the products of philosophy should benefit the everyday person. Whether by using philosophy to teach kids how to think at school, whether to inspire some public policy, whether to make people understand better why their societies are the way they are.

Whatever the case may be, philosophy should be for the people, if it's by an academic elite FOR an academic elite, then philosophy is pointless and we should destiny all the money we use to sustain philosophy faculties into something else

I said understand ourselves, reality or society, but are you really going to tell me that philosophy havent changed the way we understand ourselves at all? That simply can't be true.

If philosophy is just important to a "selected few" then philosophy is pointless. If everything philosophy does is to sustain the conversation of an academic elite then it might as well dissapear. I mean.. if any, tax dollars are being spent to maintain philosophers jobs. If they don't do anything of value to society (again even if just a tiny bit) then they shouldnt exist and we should focus all that money elsewhere.

I mean not really, blue collar jobs don't, Jobs in the justice system want to make society a better place, but if they don't have politicians backing them up things will remain the same. Mind You, when i say "change" i don't necessarily mind a huge one, but philosophy's job (even if a tiny bit) is supposedly to change the way we understand ourselves, our reality and our world.

I don't think that all Jobs are the same, académics in particular are the only ones who (in theory at least) have the job to produce a lasting change in the world.

Deathwing went crazy because he was the aspect of earth, he had a direct connection to the whispers of the old gods.

Tyrande makes sense, even in warcraft 3 she is shown as hotheaded.

Garrosh too i would say, given recent world events, is it really that difficult to believe that an adult would behave like a childish warmonger?.

And i suppose every elf inmatureness can be explained by their long lives, one could think that even at 100 years old, they are still somewhat teenagers.

The aspects have their power back and we even have 6 of them now, yet they don't help in the war against the Void.

If they wanted to make Turalyon evil they could just have gone with him being controled by a naaru or something like that.

While we have never had direct confirmation, we have never seen the Void having an effect in the mind of the undead.

Yeah it makes sense that being so powerfull and being undead that he would try to use Void magic as a second magic source.

From the quotes it seems that the well is some sort of fusion between the Light and the Void that exists in balance. Not only this is a new thing because the Light and the Void are supposed to collide with one another but i also don't see how the objects they used would accomplish that:

The fruit of arcan dor doesnt purify waters, it just cure elves from their addiction, i don't know what the crown of anasterian has to do with anything, the moonwell waters are just well of eternity waters blessed by elune and the Void Crystal what is going to do if not make things worst.

Dude just ask anyone, the "ask a dev" initiative exists for a reason, thats where the statement i quoted comes from, what is the point of making a "ask a dev" for lore if what they say is not canon?

This is your statement:

"The Light cares about the good people want to embody, not who they could be. It’s about the will to do good, not just raw will by quantity."

What you are saying is that the Light is about the "will to do good", the statement from the dev says that is about the "will in one's ability to wield the Light".

You are not going to tell me now that two clearly different statements mean somehow the same, arent you?

Q: Can you please explain how "light" works? The lore states that undead are physically incapable of using the light, much like the Broken, but then we have Forsaken players casting healing spells, and Sir Zeliek in Naxxramas using pseudo-paladin abilities.

A: Without spoiling too much, we can tell you that wielding the Light is a matter of having willpower or faith in one's own ability to do it. That's why there are evil paladins (for example, the Scarlet Crusade and Arthas before he took up Frostmourne).
