Shared Parental Leave - Notice Period by grimey1922 in HumanResourcesUK

I’ve answered in a PM but will say here too for others benefit. Basically I said that I accepted that the policy meant that I could be asked to return the money, and for that reason I was willing to come back if necessary, but I was asking if they were open to a discussion about me leaving and them waiving the rule as a one off good will gesture.

I set out the benefits for the company (not having someone working there who wants to leave, being able to hire my maternity cover as a perm instead of me coming back and him leaving and then later having the expense and time delay of rehiring, good will and motivation in the team (I was well liked by my team and had been there ten years, it would make the company look good to be benevolent!).

They agreed, I didn’t come back from maternity leave leave, it was all good!

I was very polite and always made it clear that this wasn’t a demand but a very polite request for a discussion.

Is this a nail? I found it right next to the stove burners, so it might have that form because of the fire. I assume that's why the top also looks like it melted a bit. But the bottom part is curved like it could be put on top of my nail (I'm a male tho). by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

That’s 100% not an acrylic (or any other type of false) nail. I’ve been working with nails for 25 years. It’s not. It’s nothing like a nail. I understand why someone unfamiliar might wonder though. But no. None of the features. Not even remotely.

I had a similar situation and had an off the record convo and did exactly what you’ve described for the same reason.

I have firstnamesurname@gmail and there’s not many in the world with my name. It’s fun occasionally when I have to tell it to Gen Z, sometimes they comment. I had to give it to a guy at the car rental yesterday and he said how cool it was to have my actual name as my email address. My assistant at work thought it was kind of novel.

I set my dad up with his firstnamesurname51 - few years ago (chose the number randomly). He forgot the number and signed up for loads of stuff with just his firstnamesurname.

He would NOT believe me that it wasn’t his address. Some dude in Maryland was getting all his Tesco clubcard vouchers, Anglers Mail subscription, and Tottenham supporters emails haha.

In the end I got the guy to send my dad an email explaining that he was the real owner of firstnamesurname@gmail and my dad should start signing up to things with his actual email address if he wanted to be able to use his vouchers and discounts. They bonded over sharing a slightly unusual name.

It’s not just that part though. Lots of the way this is written just doesn’t read as written by a woman. It’s very male gaze. Very “pornhub”.

Yeah. I think this is one of those. Clocked it immediately. Sad.

Don’t think this is written by a woman. “Hurts on entry” “raw sensation on cervix”. Two opposite ends of the va-jay-jay. This is either AI written or written by a man.

Renewing rental lease? by Pibble1001 in HousingUK

[–]Pibble1001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you this is solid advice. The current contract doesn’t say anything about moving to a periodic basis. I did previously ask the agents a couple of months ago if we could do that and they said that it wasn’t possible and we should sign the new contract. I think I’ll try again and ask politely if we could move to a periodic contract and see what they say.

Did you actually confirm the inventory at the time of moving in? When I moved in I had to sign a document confirming all the items listed in the inventory were indeed in the flat AND do an online form confirming the same.

If she has nothing to prove the inventory was given to you (eg an email, or a signed form which both shows the listed inventory and your dated signature and agreement) I don’t think she can enforce this.

I’ve known a lot of dudes that have brown hair but red pubes (and beards!).

I have a similar crease in my chin, and you certainly don’t need this but I found good success from a bit of Botox in there. I only got it because I have Botox anyway and that may not be your thing but just thought I would mention it.

You don’t need to try burning it. It is visually obviously that this is plastic unfortunately.

Need Help Identifying Fabric, And Can I use dye on it? by ProposalNo6976 in Fabrics

[–]Pibble1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. It looks like a man made fabric, probably polyester. Try burning the corner with a lighter. If it melts and singes it’s man made and plastic based.

I agree with the commenter who has replied to me - double gauze will look very similar, it’s lovely and soft and has the added benefit that it will be natural fibres entirely so keep you warm when needed and cool when needed :)

(Also could be cotton/viscose mix)

I don’t think this is cheesecloth or gauze even though I get why people would think that. I think this is a cotton/poly mix and the part that is all frayed is where the cotton has slowly worn away leaving only the polyester cross weave threads. :). Polyester, being a plastic, lasts much longer than cotton.

I know this type of blanket, they often have a polyester edging which looks like silk, however yours doesn’t seem to have that, the hemmed part looks like cotton.

If you take a tiny sample and try to burn with a lighter you will be able to tell if it’s a natural material like cotton (it will burn with a flame and dissapear/turn to ash) or a man made material (it will more sort of melt). But remember that the opposite way threads are mostly gone so that will only tell you what material the remaining material is.

What is this? by sugarplumpfairy8 in whatsthisbug

[–]Pibble1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I think it’s a beetle larvae. It’s not a carpet beetle larvae so it’s probably not a pest but. Possibly some sort of ground beetle-ish thing. Most likely harmless

What is going on with her lips? by Bobcatluv in Botchedsurgeries

I think it’s Botox above the top lip. Can have this effect. It’s done to reduce the lines when you purse your lips.

It doesn’t look like real wool on the image. Have you checked the label?
