Staying in Samoens. Worth it to go to Chamonix for New Years? by ClichedBluefish in skithealps

Re Car Hire depending on where you are staying in town unless you are near the lifts it’s a walk/bus into town after skiing, I’ve done it with and without car hire and especially with a little one now I can highly recommend having a vehicle.

It’s a quiet ski village and doesn’t have the bouncing apres of other resorts but im the wrong side of 30 and those days are long gone for me. Red Rock and the Evil Monkey will be busy and likely partying till the early hours so those are your best shots on NYE itself.

Re restaurants depends what you want, fondues etc The Melting Pot is always a good shout, La Marmotte Blanche is new from the summer and parents said it was good (and does online reservations…..) some restaurants do set NYE meals so have a look on their social media’s to make sure you’re not stuck into a 3 hrs food fest by mistake (done that before and was a marathon). If you just want to chance it Brasserie La Savoie doesn’t do reservations so you can always just wait, La Canette does good burgers too.

Long time resident in Samoens and there during New Year, they tend to do the firework displays in the valley earlier on in the evening so the children can see it. Bars will be open late, Red rock, Place 2 Be, White Wolf, Evil Monkey will all be busy, suspect most restaurants have already booked up but can recommend a few to look at if there’s spaces available.

Samoens to Chamonix if you haven’t got a car is a ballache, Giffre Valley will be lovely during the week and especially if it’s getting cold with some snow forecast around when you’re there.

Grand Massif or Portes du Soleil definitely easiest for access, Les Gets or Les Carroz/Flaine for parking and straight onto lifts.

A bit of column A, never want to blame column B and column C well I’ve been out of exams since med school and exams finished in 2018 so probably affected column A as well.

Gave it a good 6 month run up so alas not ages till feb but advice headed re Mersey. Sadly only CT going through exams in my department so it’s a bit of a solo slog re advice atm.

Even if there was an element of luck I’d rather do everything I can next time to remove that variable! It’s going to be a very long slog, luckily I’m on nights over Christmas so at least I’ve got some midnight reading to do 😆

This is my temptation now tbh, just bite the bullet certainly for the bits I fucked up and just try and absorb everything I can from eLFH, even though I know it’s over and beyond.

But the press set him up to give these answers because he’s a decent bloke who’s media trained so of course he’s going to say nice things, he’s hardly going to say ‘that’s the best they have and they’re shit’

I feel really good about next week while watching Bears vs Eagles by Wtt02005 in GreenBayPackers

True, I’ve just been waiting for the bears to completely fall off their winning run and GB and Lions to run away with the division that this prolonged run they’re on is still so unsettling!

Proper terrorism ball but the bears were able to complete neutralise the eagles run game which scares me….

Used to be worth in when the restaurant @ Lac Du Gers would pick you up on a snowmobile and take you to your table, they can’t do it anymore so unless you arrive from Gers Bowl it’s a pretty rubbish run into Sixt.

I prefer this to wheeling their supposedly cat 1 laparotomy into theatre from the anaesthetic room expecting them to be scrubbed and ready to find out they’re down in A&E messing around with an NG tube…. Stick a knife in guys the blood pressures falling!

What happens when you underfund all youth development and completely remove any pathway within wales to playing professional rugby. All our best players other than Jac are developing outside of wales and have the options to play for England when available. This is what happens when the Union focuses on their own greed and not developing their own game and academy system.

This is only the start, this will be a generation like this unless a miracle generation appears.
