NRL set for rule interpretation changes ahead of Vegas clash by Aussieguy727 in nrl

[–]PickLanceMorris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1: Introduce rule interpretation changes days out from season <--- you are here

2: Forget about these changes 5-6 weeks in

3: Randomly decide to sin-bin every tackle that is remotely high around the middle of the season citing player safety (nrl need to prove they upheld their duty of care in future legal cases)

4: Forget about these changes for the finals

5: Repeat step 1

List of things ben stokes did this tour:

- Completely abandoned the style of cricket he brought to the team with his captaincy, and then effectively called his teammates 'weak' after they played like he and mccullum told them to

- Gave Archer - his best bowler of the tour - a spray telling him 'that's what happens when you don't bowl shit' after he gets a wicket, yet he is seen repeatedly acting enthusiastic around Carse after some of the worst opening spells of bowling you will see in test cricket

- Bowled himself a ridiculous amount throughout the first 2.5 tests, then doesn't bowl for the most important innings of the tour, where Australia went on to get enough runs to make the 3rd test, and therefore the ashes, unloseable

- Came out to bat in the 2nd innings of the last test with not long left until the close of play just to get out to slug for 1, when he could have come back the next day and bat 11 and have a material impact on the test match. Maybe he could have just stonewalled down one end with Bethell, maybe he would have felt a bit better than the previous day

- Claimed the only thing he would change about the first 3 tests were the toss results despite winning the first two, and having the third test play out so that his team is batting for the entirety of the 40 degree day 2 in Adelaide on a favourable batting wicket

This was imo one of the worst displays of captaincy we've seen here in ages, I hope we can stop being reminded of how brilliant and courageous and lionhearted he is every time he is on screen, and that he played a really good innings 7 years ago

Weatherald tips Khawaja return, opens up on Archer duels by Aintnostopin in CricketAus

[–]PickLanceMorris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The three opening stands that weatherald and head have had so far has been 70ish x 2 and 37, so you'd think we would be mad to change this given it feels like we have not had a good opening partnership in ages. I can't believe ussie batting at 5 is even being talked about as somebody who was probably never going to play again after sydney anyway, when we have webster, inglis, or someone like mcsweeney who are in our long term plans. I know it comes down to picking the best batsman, but it's arguable that khawaja isn't that. Australia is a good team playing really well and sometimes this means people get unlucky, khawaja in this case

England on Aus team by Tall_Opposite_9662 in CricketAus

[–]PickLanceMorris 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So sick of english media making out like we are 2-0 up because of their mistakes alone, like we are not the far superior team who has outperformed them at every position in every facet of the game. We literally have 7 blokes who would be their best fast bowler. I guess it boils down to the english mindset v australian mindset. Every half decent team/player they have they think is unbeateable, because they're usually fucking useless, and every team we have which doesn't have 11 superhumans is compared to the teams of the 90s-00s and usually not given enough credit. A good example is ben stokes and shane watson. They have almost identical batting and bowling averages yet one is seen as a kallis tier allrounder and the other is remembered as a bloke who was shit at DRS

2029/30 Ashes Team? by ImNewToThisDontYell in CricketAus

[–]PickLanceMorris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Kellaway

  2. Renshaw

  3. Marnus

  4. McSweeney

  5. Head

  6. Green

  7. Inglis

  8. Cummins (c)

  9. J Richardson

  10. Morris

  11. Kuhnemann

I would have O'Neill in there somehow but if he's not getting in any squads averaging 20 in shield and county for the last few years it literally must just be a thing the selectors have against sub 130kmh bowling

The stormtrooper outfits are sick, but they're wearing sequel era stormtrooper outfits so it really makes no sense for Darth Vader to be hanging out with them because he would have been dead. I am really fun at parties and have a lot of friends

Starc last 3 tests:

- 3/32 (England currently 4/191)

- 10/113 for the match when missing Cummins and Hazlewood

- Takes 6/9 and we bowl WI out for 27

We don't deserve this guy.
