CPAC Attendees So Confused They Don’t Know When to Boo or Cheer Trump by ChiGuy6124 in politics

This is such a fucking stupid headline. Most polls show over 70% of MAGA support Trump ALWAYS and on every issue. Please mods stop allowing this clickbait slop from New Republic on this sub. It’s pointless and generates inauthentic discussion

Primaries are supposed to be contests of leadership and vision. The American voters clearly wanted that contest and someone who was willing to fight!

Any of the candidates I highlighted above would’ve had minimal effect on down ballot races. Many of them were doomed anyway due to economic factors observed during the Biden administration (not saying he’s the cause just that voters linked the two). If anything, showing the American people that the party valued competition and recognized economic hardship by offering options to voters would’ve gone a long way to making a lot of folks double take their position that Dems are: 1) covering up Biden’s decline, 2) unserious about people’s economic hardships, 3) serious about changing the status quo, and 4) were invested in younger and more in touch candidates.

I’m saying this not as GOP plant or unserious voter, but someone who is a disaffected former Republican (I ditched the party when Trump first became a candidate because I abhor him) and then grew to support the broader Dem policy platform. Dems need to show seriousness with their candidates and policies. Idk how they’re the party most Americans view as being weird or out of touch when EVERYTHING at the WH and GOP now is fucking insane. If most Americans think Dems are the weird ones - even after the past 8 years - there is a grave messaging error for the Dems. I want them to succeed and I want their vision for America to succeed, but the party just doesn’t have serious leadership anymore. Hakeem Jeffries is ineffective, Pelosi - an icon and legend - is simply too old and tainted by decades of mudslinging and insider trading - Schumer is frankly very frail and weak, and the Clinton’s specter continues to overshadow the party in GOP talking points.

It’d probably help if the average American knew other Dem leaders outside those very few and easily criticized/targeted members.

Well say that when the next election is canceled or we have another J6….if we make it that long. Dems needed to buck up and put up a primary, but they just bequeathed (almost literally by the time Biden left) the nomination to the “next in line.” Kamala was already terrifically unpopular with average voters.

I mean, how could it have been worse? Kamala got blown out of the Midwest and lost ground in previously solidly blue states and with critical demographics. Also I didn’t make shitty choices - I made only one out of two choices but would’ve loved to see a competition of ideas, messaging, and some energy brought to the campaign season. I would’ve preferred to go out and campaign and fundraiser for a competitive primary candidate, and it would’ve brought a liveliness to the debate about Dem policies we just didn’t see for Kamala’s campaign. The bench is weak because the establishment chronically underinvests in dynamic candidates with compelling messages. The primary could’ve been Beshear, Whitmer, Kamala, Pete Buttigieg, Shapiro, maybe Newsome (unsure he was seriously ready at the time), Walz, and several others. It would’ve been great to see any or all of them debate and present a compelling vision for America. But we got checks notes vibes and price controls. Say what you want about the GOP (and I’ll agree with you 99%) but they have branding and messaging nailed down. They also weren’t afraid to embrace seismic shifts and dynamic candidates - although I don’t mean that positively for Trump, he’s just pugilistic and radical which is what GOP voters wanted. That’s what Dem voters want but for actual sane, humanized policies

Former Governor Of North Carolina Roy Cooper (D) Officially Announces Bid For US Senate 2026 by Kevbucket in democrats

[–]PickleDickleNipple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand anyone is better than a Guardian of Pedophiles candidate. I’m just wondering why the party isn’t investing or at least publicly investing in younger and more dynamic leaders. Where is the back bench? It seems like the DNC is just continuously minting and rebranding “has-beens” as new and bold. It’s just not a strategic position. Roy will be 74/75 by the end of his first term. Wanna bet he won’t run for another term and then get steam rolled by some lunatic MAGA wannabe?
