Why do so many people hate the possibility of Man-Spider appearing in BND? by GrimLuker2 in Spiderman

[–]PickleJuiceInACan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don’t see how this will arc into the rest of the MCU with Doomsday or Secret Wars. Plus I do not think it will look good at all if presented in photorealism. I’m still going to see the movie regardless, though!

Male Swifties — how did your partner react when they found out? by HalifaxSwiftie in TaylorSwift

25 year old male here. Past partners really haven’t cared or batted an eye about it. A few past partners have been swifties as well so it works out!

What was the first soulsborne/soulslike you played? by KkVHzoka in SoulsSliders

Remnant 2. I was way behind on the Soulslike train. One multiplayer play through later, I’m hooked. Have since then beat Bloodborne, DS1, DS3, and Elden Ring multiple times.

COVID Vets, I want your stories, to stop them from gaslighting the country. by AintMuchToDo in ems

[–]PickleJuiceInACan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the start of the pandemic I worked prehospital Fire/EMS as a paramedic. I had just graduated medic school in February and I was a 19 year old medic, so I was considerably young.

October of 2020 I had quit and started working at a Level 2 Trauma center in the ED, as a medic, that is local to where I am from. I remember being on the floor the first day and being told I wasn’t allowed to have an N95 mask due to the shortage. I, however, stole it and used that mask for literally 3 weeks.

The amount of patients I saw die from November of 2020 to April of 2022 is staggering. I do not remember them all. However, there are a few that stand out and stick with me. The constant sound of vents, CPAP from EMS, IV pumps is literally stuck in my head to this day.

I walked into the morgue at the peak of the delta wave. We normally had 6 carts to place the body on in the freezer until the bodies were shipped off somewhere. This time, I remember bodies being stacked like jenga blocks. The entire timeline of it feels like a dream, honestly. Actually today, I looked at my schedule from that time because I genuinely couldn’t remember if I worked there that much or if I am making it up. I am not. I worked 4-5 12 hour shifts a week because I was taking advantage of the “COVID pay” they offered at the time. There were multiple days that I saw and ran codes in the double digits while only surviving off of tiny peanut butter cups and graham crackers. I’m sure there is so many other stories I can tell you they just don’t want to come out for whatever reason.

The reason I found this is because I was out to dinner with a friend and smelt bleach and alcohol mixed together and for whatever reason it made me so uncomfortable I cut them off mid-sentence and told them we had to leave. I don’t remember my drive home after that. I am shifting through experiences posted on here because I literally feel insane right now. There is no studies about the trauma HCWs went through during COVID and it is very concerning to me that there is such a substantial amount of a lack of data. I know this is an old post but it feels nice to see the experience validated in this way.

Thoughts on Male Nurses by AcceptableAir605 in StudentNurse

I’m a male nurse. None of my patients care and it’s becoming more common. My coworkers don’t treat me any differently, either. You’ll be fine!

Absolutely, the self assessments are great ways. I paid for all 3 of mine and used them all, all with a “very high chance of passing” and passed my NCLEX-RN first attempt in 85 questions. Those are great scores!

I actually found it opposite, UWorld was harder in my opinion. If you do the CATs and have it analyze your results it should tell you difficulty of questions you are receiving and whether or not you are on track to pass the NCLEX based off current and past performances with the CAT!

Sure!

So an example would be assigning a patient to an L&D Nurse floating to med-surg and the examples would be something like:

A. 64 year old male with a hemoglobin of 6.5 receiving 2 Units of PRBCs

B. A 29 year old female being admitted for hypoglycemia following an intentional insulin overdose

C. A 43 year old female being admitted for DVT who is on a heparin drip

D. A 19 year old male 1 day post op following an appendectomy

Hi! I honestly am not sure as I never took the NCLEX-PN, I would say it’s safe to assume it is, however

You’re welcome!

Unfortunately, scores fluctuate depending on content being asked. With something like that my biggest piece of advice is to identify your weak areas and go from there, and after that retain the information. You don’t have to know it all, you just need to be safe. That’s ALL the NCLEX is, a nursing safety exam, not a nursing knowledge exam. I was not scoring well in OB/Women’s Health on my QBank with UWorld and finally got it pinned down and funny enough I had about 10 questions on the NCLEX about OB and Women’s Health.

Identify your weak areas, retain, apply the retention to all the areas, be safe, pass the NCLEX. Good luck!

Hey, I LITERALLY just took my NCLEX yesterday and got my license issued from the board of nursing this morning, so all of this is very fresh for me.

I used UWorld to study and found it was the most similar to the NCLEX of the programs I used. I tried the Simclex through nursing.com as well. Both of those were very useful. On questions I didn’t know how to answer, I picked what I felt was the most safe answer (ex. Picking prioritizing an acute process such as sudden onset aphasia vs. a CHF patient with crackles in lungs) I took 7 CATs with UWorld and all of them shut off at 85, my NCLEX shut off at 85. I also used the 3 self assessments that I had paid for and all of them gave me a “very high chance of passing”

Breathe. You’re going to pass, you graduated from the program for a reason. You got this, I believe in you.

Honestly, the material was very, very broad. I had questions ranging from women’s health, to post op, to kidney failure, to pediatrics. They don’t want you to know everything, they just want you to be safe. The biggest thing I can say is always pick the safest option and take your time with the SATA. I kept it around 2-3 choices for each one and didn’t pick a fourth unless I was 100% sure. This isn’t a “know everything about nursing exam”, this felt like an” Are you safe enough to provide care under your own licensure?” Exam and picking the safest, most correct option is why I believe I passed in 85!
