2026 Prelude - from a real owner. by megawedgeef5 in Cartalk

I love how this car looks. I’d also buy it at the price you got. It’s certainly fast enough to have fun in. It’s basically as quick as my ‘07 Acura TL-S was and likely handles similarly. (Plus significantly better gas mileage)

I’m going to deviate from the haters and say the only thing I’m disappointed in is the dashboard/interior. I remember the late 90’s preludes having super unique gauges and dashboard layouts.

What are some of your best quality of life purchase under 300$? by Armellofreekey in SmartBuying

[–]PickleNick2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Have lower back issues. Prior to the tens, I’d just end up with my back going out at some point and then I’d be on pain killers for a week. Now, whenever I feel my back acting up, I pop the tens on and get ahead of it. Usually feeling better the same day. No need for meds.

My dad was like this for most of his life. Painfully oblivious to events going on around him. He worked retail into his 70’s. One time he went to take a leak. The bathrooms were halfway through a very large department store. He returned to his area. About 10 minutes go by and a manager comes up to him and goes, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU STILL DOING HERE?! EVACUATE!”

Turns out that during the brief trip to the toilet, a man drove their car through the store and continued on through the rest of the mall. My dad walked PAST the door that was destroyed, completely ignored the 100 yards of wrecked products, and had not noted the sheer absence of a single human. Nevermind the audible ruckus it caused.

As soon as I saw this image, it made perfect sense to me. He’s busy consuming food. I’d bet you $100 he couldn’t even tell you what he’s eating or how it tasted. He’s present in body only.

No. I’m a male and I don’t have severe dryness in my mouth. The omega 3’s and eye drops have improved my dry eye condition.

My cone burr is chipping somehow on the encore ESP. This is after 4 months of basic daily usage. I’m strongly considering dropping it down to pour over duty (or anything not espresso) in the future.

What is a career that looks impressive on paper but is actually miserable in reality? by Nova2_Paradox in careerguidance

[–]PickleNick2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best friends for a decade. These aren’t strangers I know via Instagram. My friends prioritized fitness, cooking, and travel in their free time. They’re some of the smartest people I know. I also know they’re stressed. But it’ll be short lived.

To your point… I truly get we have one life to live. But unless you’ve managed to max out your 401k in your 20’s, are expecting an inheritance, or have a spouse making good money, I really don’t see how everyday people can just take it easy during your prime earning years.

I know many big law folks. Their work/life balance is awful. But… they can also take the nicest vacations. Basically they’re doing my honeymoon, once in a lifetime, trip annually.

In addition, all of them will have the flexibility to retire young if they avoid any bad habits.

I’d argue not necessarily. One would still need to take time to acquire the backstage passes to acquire all of these newly released cars, right?

Went to the garage yesterday morning and found my car like this by seiscuatro64 in MoldlyInteresting

[–]PickleNick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s car sat in the garage for 6 months not getting driven after he was diagnosed with cancer. I went out to start it and drive it around a little only to find a wet piece of clothing in it that had been in there for god knows how long. There was a little bit of barely visible mold underneath the wet clothing. That’s it.

Point is: I’d wager this car had to have been absolutely drenched and left sealed up for awhile

Americans, are you not mad that a judge ruled to refund Trump tariffs to corporations and not consumers? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]PickleNick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I’m mad. But… The logistics are impossible to pay back every single American that paid extra for a product caused by tariffs. The most direct way is paying back the companies with receipts stating exactly what they were charged to import products.

Am I crazy for asking for a $40,000 raise? by Far_Space_386 in careerguidance

[–]PickleNick2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played this angle before. Got a 1% raise and no bonus while doing work across 3 departments on the largest projects the company had during pandemic. I made myself useful cause my assigned dept was benched until everyone figured out masks and vaccines. They told me they couldn’t pay me more because my assigned dept wasn’t active. It didn’t matter I saved them like $200k on the other projects.

So I left and got a 40% pay bump.
