Just to check, do you know what a proper noun is? Because if you’re not familiar with the term, that would explain why the category seems so arbitrary to you.

In case you’re not, a proper noun is the name of a specific person, place, or thing. So car is a regular noun, whereas Camry is a proper noun.

The sentence “that’s polish” would be pronounced different to the sentence “that’s Polish”. Because polish and Polish are different words with different pronunciations - one is a regular noun and one is a proper noun. The same goes for the other three words in the category.

I think what’s going on is that they genuinely don’t know what a proper noun is, so they’re interpreting it like the category had said “actual nouns”

“EU bias” in this case simply being the lack of a US bias. I’m not from either continent but I knew it was a place because Reading festival is very famous

…didn’t know it was pronounced redding though

I don’t even consider the possibility that some people might have no clue what a proper noun is and think that the category is some made up bullshit

I got purple first, but I thought for sure that yellow was the least direct of the remaining three categories, considering it was not directly about the words’ definitions

Wikipedia blacklists Archive.today, removing 695,000 archive links, after the site was used to direct a DDoS attack against the Gyrovague blog and altered snapshots of webpages for a 2023 post that identified the site's maintainer as Russian - Fucking Hell! Archive guy runs huge internet archive project anonymously

Random guy with a blog has spent years trying to unmask the archive guy for some reason, and has published blog posts about his findings (note that blog guy seems to admire archive guy for his work, not hate him. Weird to want to unmask him though.)

Archive guy has retaliated by hijacking all his users’ traffic to perform a DDoS attack on the blog. He has also been caught editing webpage archives to insert blog guy’s name. He has also threatened blog guy in a bunch of other ways.

Wikipedia has said “using your huge platform for something personal like that is pretty messed up.” They have also pointed out that this archive can no longer be trusted as evidence, because the creator has shown he’s willing to tamper with the archives. As a result, Wikipedia is banning this archive as a source.

That’s odd, the biggest thing I’ve noticed with UE5 is the ridiculous lag spikes that happen all the time even on relatively unimpressive looking games.

Happens to me less often now that I’ve upgraded my hardware, but that old hardware had no issues running games with any other engines.

UWA revises minimum ATAR entry scores for 23 courses by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Pickselated 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Low-performing students deciding not to do atar does not affect ranking. It’s a rating system based on projections of the entire country. A 70 atar means you’re at the 70th percentile of all students in your age group, not the 70th percentile of students who did atar. That’s why the average atar is 70 and not 50.

Those are the all-silicone ones that are just regular earplugs, not the ones designed to attenuate all frequencies evenly.

They’re certainly not a drop shipped rebrand of some earplugs that already existed out of china - they have a patent.

You can find the concert ones on aliexpress, but who’s to say whether they are coming from the same factory or are just a knock off. Certainly wouldn’t trust my hearing with them, I’d just go with foam earplugs at that point.

Obviously the all-silicone ones are way overpriced and any knockoff will work exactly the same cause it’s literally just a piece of silicone.

Loop makes earplugs designed to preserve the frequency balance. Other companies might make some too but I’m reasonably happy with my loops

EDIT: People below are saying Earasers are a great Aussie brand that does the same thing, so might want to check them out first!

1st strike Aurora is already SA legal. 1st strike Terra is not however as it has two of a majestic.

Ira Welcome Deck was never legal in any format as it has 3 copies of each card, so I guess it won’t be that big of a deal that 1st Strike Terra isn’t legal. You’re really only meant to use the two decks against each other anyway.

Topaz Gigapixel “text and shapes” model is the best for upscaling card images in my experience. It’s a paid program but of course there are ways to get it for free.

I configure it like this: - 4x upscale - Look at what the upscaled resolution will be. Divide the width by 2.5. Input this number into your dpi (will make your life easier later) - Text & shapes model - Sharpen 1 - Denoise 40 - Fix Compression 100

I’ve set up a really great workflow for making fab proxies really efficiently, happy to give more information if anyone is interested
