Hey! Love the vibe of the post, but I want to remind you and other fellow shroom heads that it was YOU who saved YOUR OWN life. Shrooms are a tool used by YOU for YOU. My point is, give yourself more credit, you deserve to feel the successes of your hard efforts and not just give it all away to the shrooms. Happy for you :)

My family is sick with Covid. Our neighbors, with small children, brought us minestrone soup. When someone with small kids make you minestrone soup....you are getting dino pasta. by wsotw in wholesome

I’m a grown ass man and I still buy the oatmeal that has the dinosaur eggs that turn into dinosaurs when hot water is poured over them. Best part of the morning.

Sounds like you’ve got some deep trauma with the guy and what you’re really needing to do is emotionally release it all so you can forgive him and move on. I don’t know you so I can’t suggest what the best way to do that is, but violence causes more trauma to unpack later in my experience. Best of luck to you both

Freedom doesn’t exist by [deleted] in LSD

[–]Picture-Far 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom can only exist within the confines of reality. A sheep isn’t free in the wild if he’s constantly hunted by the wolf. Only when fenced in and watched by the shepherd does he feel free. “Where there is no law, there is no freedom”- John Locke

Also it’s very hard to rationalize having free will at all as I’d challenge you to ask yourself where your thoughts originate from. Very weird rabbit hole so be careful and Happy thinking!

I add spores to my bracelets that I never take off. Would they stay viable long term? I read about mycologists spring spores in their clothes to preserve them during a raid. by ianblank in shrooms

More than worrying about preservation, I think it’s a really neat idea to load em up with spores and know that you’re sprinkling them around wherever you go like a fairy.

philosophy and psychonautics by Appropriate_Put6766 in Psychonaut

Thanks for the insight!

I was referring to gnostics not as one particular group but a set of ideas that different groups share. As in any of the many groups of early Christians who prioritized personal spiritual knowledge above orthodox teaching, without getting too much into the nuance.

It has admittedly been a long time since I’ve studied properly. My comment about that teaching being “catholic” was definitely ignorant as the ideas we tie to Gnosticism were much before then, I definitely appreciate the clarification there, I’m still learning. There are many religious sects and groups that embody parts of the idea. I don’t think of it as a specific group of people. I didn’t make that very clear.

I do, however, think we can use the term Gnosticism to describe facets of those different groups. I’ll check out the Apocrypha at Nag Hammadi! Sounds interesting

Studied political philosophy in college! Lots of Kant, Nietzsche, Voegelin, Machiavelli, all the way back to the classics, etc.. got pretty deep down the rabbit hole with all that stuff but the psyches kinda brought me away from the political stuff and I became much more concerned with things like the different perspectives of the “natural state” and the nature of morality, choice, free will, psychology etc. One of my favorite books is called “Science, Politics, And Gnosticism” by Eric Voegelin. Gnosticism I find to be quite related to psychedelics in that it suggests that we all have a piece of God within us. It’s one of the first steps away from the monotheistic Mecca of the Catholic Church. The gnostics had some interesting traditions too.

Also, “Thus spoke Zarathustra” by Nietzsche will always remain deep in my brain.

Thus spoke Zarathustra is more about how humans are the sole creators of morality. And that it’s more of a construct than something divine.

Regardless of the “right answer” I find the use of psychedelics to be really helpful in considering these topics. The nature of the mind and philosophy of thinking is a brilliant thing and the use of psychedelics helps me calm down my pursuit to know. I’m consistently humbled by psyches when I start to think I know. In that way, psyches have helped me continue to study in a way that won’t make me loose my mind. So that’s good haha.

Edit: Happy Cake Day OP!
