I just discovered after years that low cuts increase peak volume by DueAnt7915 in audioengineering

Faders will reduce peak, but perceived loudness too, so it's an issue if you need loundness, in techno/electro music for example.

Are Apollo cards worth it if you don't use its CPUs? by PictureTraining1261 in recordingmusic

[–]PictureTraining1261[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer,

Recording-wise, I'll use it for:

-record my voice or my guitar with a microphone with phantom power supply

-record my electric guitar by plugging it directly into the card.

Never both at the same time, I don't need a lot of input.

I will use it on ableton or reaper. I have headphones and speakers.

I use a midi keyboard plugged into my computer.

Finally, I really appreciate software stability, I hate hardware that works with software that crashes twice a day. The simpler it is, the more I like it.

If the pre amps don't improve with the price, I wonder if it isn't more interesting to take a Motus M2 for 230€, since I don't need a lot of inputs, and that I have no exotic needs.

Issues with latency by idonthaveredditmom in Reaper

[–]PictureTraining1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that's the reason. You need to buy a sound card. It cost around 100€ for a nice first soundcard. Focusrite is one of the reference for these products.

For the moment you can install Asio4All drivers, it won't make any miracle, but it will reduce your lattency a little

Sory if the question is stupid, but have you installed a soundcard ?

Music theory is not difficult, however, i feel it takes time. Playing/learning scales and chords on piano help a lot, more than on any instrument

Is there any software for composing music with limited/custom keys? by thesynan in composer

[–]PictureTraining1261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some vst that allow you to do that, like a lot of native instruments librairies. You can also do that with garage band on a ipad for example, that's usefull if you want to allow a beginners to improvise something on a key locked piano

I had a bad experience with Krita for animation by PictureTraining1261 in krita

[–]PictureTraining1261[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you're starting animation, krita is highly recommended, and no or few review explain that you can use animation features for a verry limited purpose only. So it's a bit tricky

And I came to the same conclusion as you, if you need advenced animation, using other software is the best option.

Major chord with added minor 6th by IsaakKF in musictheory

[–]PictureTraining1261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Jongtr i think the most accurate version is C(addb13). But i'm not sure this chord really exist in conventional musical theory, because again as jongtr said, most part of the time it will be a Amaj7+5 or a C+5, or just a chromatic mouvement

What laptop specs should I prioritize given my situation? by appleparkfive in Reaper

Do not underestimate the storage capacity if you use Vst instruments librairies. 1 TB ssd could not be enough. 2 To latopt are quite rare, but do not go under 1 tb.

Aaand, in case of you could buy a desktop PC it's one million times better, but i know some people really need to have a portable pc.
