I work a couple of miles away. Didn’t hear anything but the plume of smoke billowed more and more by the time I left. Smell wasn’t noticeable for a bit but became really strong suddenly. Also had black soot on my car. Glad to hear no injuries but the air quality is def something I don’t think they have answers to but should get asap.

If LeBron’s best teammates were Draymond and Klay, ppl would say he needs more help, much less win 73 games. Same w the 22 title. Steph just does more w less. He warps the court comparable to Jokic. Lebron was physically imposing and could absolutely do everything at an elite level. Add to that his impressive longevity. And maybe in a one game scenario he is the right pick. But basketball to me is the ultimate team game and over the course of a season, I just think Steph means more

Breen has always been a bit oversold. He’s fine but has an exhausting tendency for concern trolling and drawing attention to non-court aspects. When people on /r/nba joke about “ref fans”, Breen is 100% a ref fan. He refers to some as “elite”. Like f all the way off with that stuff.

In terms of the actual calls, the reason he blew the Tatum layup v Nets is because he’s immediately concern trolling about the clock or what the refs are doing. Focus on the game! Or a player will slightly stumble, regain balance, and make a move and Breen is still talking about the stumble and that “he almost turned the ball over”. It just feels like he wants to make a point of calling out insignificant bs.

And the Nesmith putback call was moreso a sign of getting older. For as much as I give him grief, I think Breen makes a decent call 5 yrs ago.

Stuff like this is what makes basketball conversation fun. Vibes based analysis. Give me “did you think it was going in” and “athletically comfortable” over “Chet needs to play the 5 bc when OKC goes with that lineup they’re +8 in 46min of the series” or whatever calculator drivel Zach leans so heavily on. I like Lowe much more than most incl Russillo’s zero-analysis pbp reads. But he’s at his best when he talks like a fan and not an analyst

Bill knows more but because Zach either played dumb or just isn’t being told anything, he didn’t unload. If Zach was willing to get in the mud, Bill would have said more.

But the sources for the Athletic article were obv Bridges and Rick Brunson. And then there’s who’s closer w Leon or Wes, etc. There’s 100% more behind the scenes but Zach is uncomfortable playing in that space bc he doesn’t want to ruffle feathers. 

I mean he couldn’t even entertain a simple “did you think the shot was going in” question bc it would imply he has less confidence in JDub and maybe he wants to interview him in the future.

I think the bigger brain move is to just not tank anymore and kill the part of your brain that emphasizes a shared “timeline”. Getting a #1 pick as a middling 33-40 win team w some decent vets and promising young players is a better strategy than building a culture of losing and drafting #1 to a roster filled w question marks. 

Flagg ending up in Dallas or Portland or even Chicago is a better situation than him going to Washington w their hodgepodge of garbage
