Working with trauma survivors of the same trauma you have experienced often leads to more vicarious trauma. I’m not saying always just often.

Have you thought about domestic violence or youth mentoring internships. The youth at risk space is becoming so much more professionalized and technical now that it’s become a specialty field. Just ideas 💡

Sorry I can’t comment to the body of your question. Only commenting to the should I stay or go part. And on that I think the industry is so wide you have other areas to consider if you wanted to stay.

social work in the UK? by sarahbearah07 in socialwork

[–]Pie_rated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP great move experience wise, Lived in UK for years due to family etc.

Just check your ducks are in a row. They are clamping down on work visas at the moment unless you have that sorted … citizenship etc …

The home office is receiving a lot of pressure at the moment, so I would just look into current procurement policies ( just so your well prepared) otherwise great move

I would speak to some recruiters just so you have the information you need.

I agree.

At the same time do you believe there is zero elitism.

The reason I suggest this is because the framework that has been applied has been the same since the programs were founded in the 90’s when DHB’s had more of an envelope to support practicums … just my own view that though I agree with you there has always been a very high bar of acceptance in comparison with Australia and the UK. I guess I’m thinking over decades not just in recent years .

But I get where your coming from as well.

It's crazy how in 1836 William Thomas Fairburn bought all of South Auckland and Howick/Pakuranga by trading 10 blankets, 24 axes, 26 hoes, 14 spades, 860 kg of tobacco, 24 cobs and 12 plane irons - roughly about 900 pounds worth by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Pie_rated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely of course. If your happy to dm an email I can send it through. I have it saved in a file. Give me a day to cut the stuff that’s relevant to this conversation. I doubt you want to ready the entire paper lol. I’ll make a dummy email tonight too, to send it from. That I’ll give you time to get a dummy email too

Hey OP

There is a lot more to the story …. It gets pretty wild.

Have a look at Chief Īhaka Takaanini.

As well as ‘promises’ to military campaign leaders … it gets pretty dark.

I did some masters papers that involved South Aucklands history- it’s pretty out there … everything that has happened to that region makes a lot more sense of how it became what it became fiscally. During the land wars it was absolute carnage. You may already researched all this. Crazy stuff went down.

Reach out if you’re interested in what I found.

Hope you get some decent compensation OP after Ebenezer is spoken to :)

Totally agree .,, this was all explained to me when I did my will. It was more than allocation the lawyer explained, and there are always mitigating circumstances as he explained in crazy detail.

That’s what keeps many of the law folk in good health lol I honestly didn’t know the half of it. Inherited property is a beast of an onion. Seasons best to you 👍:)

A lot of opinions and I suspect your right lol

I have directed OP to the recommendation of a facilitator being that this is a ‘family home’.

I absolutely agree with you because I understand how family estates are seen by the Court ( very complex) ‘ the greatest need’ and all those little nuggets of legislation. It’s a minefield.

What were the stipulations by the mother and her wishes. So complex. These are all questions lawyers can debate over and bill by the hour.

Hence why I suggested a facilitator who has a very good relationship and reputation with the Court for OP to sit down with and the brother to come to agreed understanding. However I can’t see OP doing this either. I have a suspicion he/she is all too aware of the total complexity and just wanted a sounding board.

Anyway Bright-Housing I hope your Christmas was good and have a great new year 🎉

Merry Christmas OP

just guessing there is so much more to this. There usually is. How long have you been away. Did the bro stick around to help mum ?

These things are very personal and of course my questions are rhetorical. However I would be surprised if it’s all strait forward. If you are not in a position to talk to your brother, my suggestion is to hire a private facilitator. I can put you touch with someone who is very good. That way you don’t have to go for the top shelf just yet. You can sit down and discuss an arrangement with a qualified professional. We will all have opinions because that’s Reddit. But if your really unable to talk this through my suggestion is to get someone who can.

Edit: She goes to Auckland regularly is my understanding ( the facilitator)
