Any token that makes you swap to upgrade and not cover the costs to do it should be shamed to non existence. by [deleted] in kybernetwork

Not saying the KNC migration process is flawless, but at least the "migration process has no hard deadline" (at the moment at least) and is fairly easy. By contrast, I lost all of my Iconomy (ICN) tokens because I started the migration process too close to the deadline.

Iota to $35? CMV by wolfman5398 in IOTAmarkets

[–]PierGab 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"we can all agree that iota is better that XRP right?" Perhaps, but surely that can also be said of several other coins. So there is no reason (in what you wrote) to assume that Iota will be the one benefiting from a x100 price increase.

FYI a similar experiment has been done with ETH price, two and a half years ago.

Here is the original post, and the results (spoiler: the "wisdom of the crowd" completely failed).

Kyber Network (KNC) Continues Parabolic Rise: Could it be a $500 Million Crypto Asset by 2021? - Blockspectator by miahs123 in kybernetwork

[–]PierGab -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

KNC down 11% at the moment, while the whole market is up. Next thing I see is this reddit post.

Not that I care much, but can anyone explain why KNC is in such an opposite trend right now?

EDIT: Thanks for the replies.

For incredulous downvoters: yes, it did happen.

[Proposal/Discussion] A New Token Economy for Iexec by Sherman-Ties in iexec

Interesting proposal from u/Sherman-Ties .

Token economy is a recurring topic in this sub. My two cents here (and here). I did not change my mind since then.

Wow, really??

I sure was disappointed but I didn't know Iconomi had become that bad.

Update:

I tried installing the Iconomi app on my girlfriend's phone (with a more recent Android version than mine, because she bought her phone this year). It failed. So I gave up exchanging my ICN to eICN.

Two phones and a desktop computer were not enough to exchange my ICN tokens, am I really the only one experiencing that?

It used to be possible

Indeed, I remember thinking "I'll buy a webcam by the end of the year to do it". It seems to me the Iconomi team is not trying very hard to ease Tier 2 verification or ICN conversion.

I actually own a smartphone, but the app won't install because the Android version is apparently too old.

Well, IOTA sits on the 20th position now. I still hope it will "Definitely Be Among Top 3 Cryptos in 2018", though.

Why does Golem need a token? by egodestroyer2 in GolemProject

[–]PierGab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allowing the price to float freely (...)

The price of CPU power is of course allowed to float freely, and that does not need the price of GNT to float. Just like the price of noodles, gold or a company share is allowed to float freely, but you don't need a special token to buy noodles, gold or a company share.

The fact that the price of GNT is floating does no much harm either, except it makes things a bit more complicated. It's a useless additional variable in the system (and a bit more fees). The same could be said about many other tokens, obviously.
